Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Icarus Down Jacket:

I bought this jacket a few weeks ago in the Gloxinia (purple) color, and the first day I wore it received multiple compliments (even from non-outdoorsy friends). I do LOVE the color, and it's fashionable factor is an added bonus, but that's far from the best thing about this jacket. I's very warm, but not heavy or bulky in the slightest, and I love that it can fold into one of it's pockets. I usually wear it with a light sweatshirt underneath and I've been comfortable in temps down to the low 30s (I imagine it will be warm in even colder temps as well, but I haven't experienced this yet). I've tested the jacket in rain as well and it does a great job of wicking away the moisture. It doesn't make me sweat when I wear it indoors either...I almost feel like it just adjusts itself to my needs!
I have long arms, but this is the perfect length for me. It doesn't ride up if I lift my arms either. If I had to choose my favorite thing about this jacket it would have to be that when I zip it up all the way it has a soft chin guard that is very comfortable and keeps me warm enough that I don't need a scarf, while still looking very stylish (and that EMS is looking out for those of us with nickel allergies by using non-metal zippers/zipper-pulls).

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Icarus Down Jacket:

First, this coat is a fabulous buy. The down is quality; the shapely fit is excellent. It's not too bulky, and the fabric/stitching is fantastic to (seemingly) prevent tears or down from coming out. I really, really wanted to keep the jacket but for the sleeves: I wear an XS in all EMS brand and have never had a problem with sleeve length. But this is rediculous! Another reviewer (on the hooded version) liked the sleeves long, but really, even though the elastic nicely keeps it in place around your wrists when you push the sleeves up, you're stuck with massive hanging biceps full of fluff. The down and fabric gets stuck under my armpits. I realize that the arms should be long enough for when you lift your arms, but this is plain strange. I don't have short arms, so I see this as a design flaw stylistically.
