Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Camp Cargo Convertible Pants:

I'm about 5' 2.5" inches tall and the 29" inseam (SHORT) fit me perfectly. I love these pants....except for one thing. I wish the shorts (zippered-off pants) were longer and that the patch pocket were attached to the shorts, not the zippered off leg part. I use that pocket to carry my camera...except when it's a warm day. But otherwise, these are excellent pants. I only wish the zippered off shorts were a couple of inches longer.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Camp Cargo Convertible Pants:

I have trouble finding zip-off pants that fit because I'm short, have a small waistline and often get stuck between a size 6 and an 8. I ordered the size six first. I could get them on, but they were more snug than I would like, especially because the fabric does not stretch. So without a whimper, EMS let me return them and I ordered the size eights. EMS was great on the phone and shepherded me through returning the smaller ones. I've received the eights. There is a scootch more room in the waist than I would like, but the snap-in belt with the convenient belt end-holder takes care of that. They are comfortable and I especially like the zippers at the ankles that allow removal of the legs without removal of shoes or boots. I'm about to field test them in Africa, but so far they fit all my criteria for a rugged and utilitarian pair of pants.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Camp Cargo Convertible Pants:

Its very hard for me to find pants that fit since I'm 5' and 100 lbs. so whenever I find something I order it. These pants are the best looking, best fitting outdoor pants I've bought yet, particularly the length. They do seem to run a bit big so next time I'll order a 0 short if its available. I'd love to get them in another color!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Camp Cargo Convertible Pants:

In general, I find these pants to be pretty comfortable and I like the light weight and packability. I take issue with the sizing, though.

The first pair I bought in the store, size 12 tall. Fit was OK, if a little big in the waist (which is acceptable since sometimes I need to wear long johns under them)

Then I went online to buy a second pair. I'd lost a little weight, and looked at the size chart to determine if I could fit into a 10. When looking at the size chart, I realized that I measured out to be a 10 originally, and that that the size 12 is riding a bit low on me. When I put on the 12 and pulled the waist up to were it should be, I discovered that not only is the inseam length too short, but also the rise is too short.

EMS does not recognize what other major women's fashion clothing retailers recognize. Tall is a proportion. You can't just add a few inches to the bottom. You have to add to the rise as well. And major women's jeans retailers have average length at 33 inches with tall at 35 or 36 inches. With a corresponding higher rise.

That said, the size 12 remains adequate, and a little bagginess isn't a huge problem for my needs. The inseam when the pants ride on my hips is OK for wearing with hiking boots. This is a pair of pants that needs to be tried on in the store before you order it if you are looking for a longer length.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Camp Cargo Convertible Pants:

I have a really tough time purchasing any bottoms online, period. I have to try on everything because I typically wear a size 4 in the waist and a size 6-8 because of my booty, and any material that is too thin looks really unflattering on me. I'm taking a trip where I'm going to be doing a lot of hiking and have been desperate to find a good pair of hiking pants. I went to REI and Sports Authority and tried on every pair in the store. All of them were too thin, too thick, or too straight leg. Finally, I found these in a random Google search and read several reviews that said they were good for women that have some curves. I just got these in the mail and they are FANTASTIC! The fit is extremely flattering and they are lightweight without being too thin. I'm so excited to finally have a great pair of hiking pants!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Camp Cargo Convertible Pants:

Simply put, these are awesome hiking pants. I bought them for a multi-day mountain climbing trip to the Adirondacks. They held up so well. The fit is very comfortable. I bought them in the size I usually wear; they were a bit baggier than most pants in this size but this was perfect because you want the extra room and flexibility when you are hiking and climbing up rocks. They are lightweight and great for summer (this trip was in July). They dry really quickly and hold up well. No rips or tears, even though part of this adventure included sliding down rocks on our butts. I should also mention that they cleaned up really well. I wore them two entire days and didn't wash them until I got home. They were muddier than anything. I was fretting that the light tan color I purchased would end up being a much darker brown after this trip, which included hiking through streams and very muddy terrain. I kid you not when I tell you they pretty much look like new now after two washings. They really are worth the investment. They are great pants with a lot of nice features including ones I haven't even mentioned here such as the zip offs (which I used for the trip home) and the pockets, some with nice closures.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Camp Cargo Convertible Pants:

While these pants fit better than most convertible pants that I have tried on, they were not perfect. On the plus side, the cut of the legs is flattering, with a slight boot cut. The butt is not overly baggy and saggy, like many women's hiking pants can be. The many pockets are nice and the ankle zips are ingenious. On the negative side, I found the sizing to be off (too large) and the rise of the pants to be too high. I want to be able to tuck in my shirts and not look like I am wearing "Mom jeans." On me, the waist covered my belly button by about 1/2 an inch. I love the fit of my Prana Monarch convertible pants but was looking for a style with slightly shorter shorts (the Prana pants zip off to knickers).

I love these pants, they are comfy and some of the persons that said not enough pockets well sometimes I feel there are too many, but I like it. I'm 5'6 and bought the short size I should I bought the tall so they fit just on the shoes. Perfect for hiking, camping etc. They are great even after many washes in the machine and I will go buy more, this mean I like it!
To travel over sea like I did in Australia & NZ perfect to pack feel very good and dry very fast after rain.

i'm 5' 10' with a 32 inseam- i usually wear a 12-14 in dress pants, 14-16 in sport pants b/c for some reason clothing companies think women who love adventure are sticks? I have Beyonce- style booty and thighs These were long enough- though i did need to order a 16 reg. I can actually sit in them- usually zip-off pants strangle my thighs like boa constrictors, but these are great! The front pockets do draw attention to the hips, but still love, love, love
