I love the compass pants so I thought I would give the shorts a try. Even though I bought the same size, they were too small. They were tight everywhere but especially in the legs. The fit was very different than the pants. They were made out of the same comfortable material as the pants but I will stick with the pants.

These shorts fit fairly well, although they are a bit bulky in the waist and the built-in belt is flimsy to be of much use (too stretchy). They seem durable and well-made; however, the back pockets are very weird and not really useable. They also make the shorts feel weird as the mesh from the back pockets really hugs one's backside, making them feel clingy and less breathable than normal shorts. I think it would be much nicer if they had no back pockets (more slimming that way too) and had 1 or 2 cargo pockets on the outside of the legs instead. These shorts are not good for backpacking or climbing, as the belt interferes and makes them less comfortable. These are best for hiking or camping or casual wear.

I'm so pleased with these. I have a horrible time finding pants and shorts that fit. I'm 5'9", 142 lbs and slender but not super skinny, with bust and hips about the same measurement.

My existing shorts were falling apart and I'd looked everywhere for something to replace them. Everything I tried on gapped in the back, had too much fabric in the rear or thighs if it fit in the waist or was generally made for someone much more pear-shaped.

These fit perfectly! I believe it's a combination of the stretch fabric, seams at the back of the waist that are actually effective at making the transition from waist to hip/rear without leaving lots of extra fabric and a slim cut through the thighs. Yeah! I've purchased several pairs, online or in a store.

The fact that they are very comfortable and dry fast is icing on the cake, I'm so relieved to have something that fits me well.

I wear these shorts all the time - have them in two colors and bought the pants as well. The length is very civilized, a bit above the knee. The fabric is wonderful, gives in every direction - not restrictive in any way, but doesn't sag or wrinkle either. The waist height is nice - just below the waist and not too low. The rise is cut a little odd and the crotch seems to be set a little far back, but that's not a big problem. Pockets are deep. I'm not crazy about the velcro pocket closures, They scratch my hands and the fabric.

These are the most comfortable shorts I have ever had! They wash well and can be worn almost anywhere.

I believe I purchased the last pair of these shorts that were available. I own 5 pairs of them and I am heartbroken that they are no longer available. I still have the first pair I bought 2 1/2 years ago and although they are somewhat stretched out, I still wear them frequently. I live in Florida and when I'm wearing shorts, they are what I wear. Walking, gardening, going to lunch, whatever, they are my shorts of choice. I know some folks complained about the belt and the back pockets, but I like everything about them. It seems to me by reading the previous reviews, most folks agree with me about these shorts. I am sorry to see them discontinued.

These shorts are great; I love the 9" length, and plan on ordering additional pairs. My only regret is that with the spandex and close fit, I don't like wearing them in humid weather.
