Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Theorem Jacket:
Pretty breathable in my opinion! I did a lot of research before buying my winter jacket one season ago. I am happy I went with this jacket. The price was great for the quality I got. It is really warm and wind doesn't ever get through. It is most def waterproof as it states. The one thing I don't like is that the hood is a little too small. If it went a little further forward, I think it would be a good improvement but hey, you can't get everything you wish for! I cannot think of anything bad to say about this jacket because there really isn't anything to say.
If you're looking for a good quality winter jacket to use for everyday use in extreme winter conditions (-30c at times), standing still or working up a small sweat, go for this jacket! You won't regret it.

After doing a bunch of research, I went with the EMS Theorem Jacket. In the next two weeks we had major snow, rain, and wind. The jacket proved itself as warm, windproof, and waterproof.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Theorem Jacket:
I bought this coat to replace another EMS coat made of Primaloft I bought back in 2000/2001. It's still good as new (wears like Iron!!!) but I thought it was time for an upgrade.
This is a good jacket that could have easily been a great jacket. Sadly, there are a number of frustrating design choices made which indicate not too much thought went into it's user functionality.
It's warm, light and good-looking. But,
- the upper set of pockets on the outside point in the wrong direction. Instead of having conveniently placed and easy-to-access pockets, the pocket on the left side has to be accessed by the right hand and vice-versa. In doing, you need the second hand just to open the flap to get your hand in. Impractical, and the pockets are too small, to boot.
- the inside pockets leave much to be desired. One is apparently made for an iPod, but just barely - it's too small for much else. The other inside pocket is long, not too deep and completely open: not a place to put anything you value.
- the drawstrings have difficult to manipulate buckles. It's not too much of a problem on the one at the bottom of the jacket, but it's terribly inconvenient to control tightness of the hood. Windy, rainy, cold? You're going to have to stop and dedicate both hands and all your attention to getting it adjusted. The mechanism is so small with such thin string that I simply cannot imagine doing it in any sort of inclement weather. Unnecessary and a product of thoughtless/poor design.
Also, there should be a drawstring to tighten the jacket in the midriff.
- there is a cold spot dead-center of my abdomen. Can't find the gap that causes it, but when the wind blows just right I feel it.
- I would have liked the coat to be one inch longer. It's a weird length, not long enough to cover your bottom in the snow but not short enough to call itself a jacket.
- one last gripe: it picks up lint, dust and random powders you come into contact with and ends up looking terrible. I have often wished I had a wet cloth with me so I didn't look like a slob. Never had a jacket do that before.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Theorem Jacket:
Bought this jacket to go along with my System 3 10K pants I bought last year. Gave them the test during the blizzard of 12/10 here in Westchester County outside of NYC. Both jacket and pants performed to full expectations. The jacket fits slightly large in the chest, but I guess thats to give you room for extra layers. Trudged thru 2-4' snow drifts with no snow getting inside thanks to snow collars. May not be warm enough for Everest, but I'm sure it will work in the Adirondaks in the dead of winter.Very happy with my purchase

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Theorem Jacket:
I know I hate and don't believe it when people say, "This is the best". First of all, it sound too childis. Secondly, it is hard to believe with such statement. Believe me, I am not child, and this is no joke. This jacket is GREAT!
I am a perfectionist, and nothing is perfect. But I gotta say, this is really one of the best Primaloft jacket in the market, if not worlwide.
Forget about Cabelas, LLBean, well-known North Face, or some other unknown brand. The competitors suffers in price or quality.
I always favor EMS stuff (only when it is made right of course) because it is a brand made of quality/price without having to show off.
That said, I have been waiting for EMS to produce another great Primaloft jacket for some years, and this one is a no regret purchase. (So far, I have no remorse purchasing EMS stuff).
I favor soft jacket for its coziness. But if you want something a little stronger without the fuss of weight, thickness, and roughness of the material, this jacket is the best alternative @ the price. Simply a "best buy" IMO.
Great color and fit. I got the green one. I like it a lot. I use it everyday as a casual jacket for regular office/field work.
I am considering to buy another one as it is hard to find some good stuff nowadays because of the recession.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Theorem Jacket:
Let me start by saying I'm a huge fan of EMS products. The combination of quality and value put their products at the top of the list for me nearly every time I'm looking for gear. I bought this Jacket on sale in Feb '13 for next year's ski season, so I haven't had a chance to ski in it yet, but I did get to use it during a recent snow storm here in New England. With Primaloft One as the insulator, it's very warm and light. It's worth noting that Primaloft One is the premier synthetic insulator and EMS uses a higher density than most of their competitors with similar products at higher price points. Also, the System Three outer shell is rated at 20k, so highly waterproof. I'll have to wait to see how breathable the material is during ski season though. Although it does have pit zips, they are limited by mesh covering the opening. I'm not sure if this will be enough of an opening to regulate heat, but truth be told I usually just open my jacket to dump the heat when needed. Small details on this jacket make me very excited; goggle wipe, easily accessible phone pocket with earphone hole and clips, ski pass clip, snowskirt, removable hood, etc. Can't wait to use this next year! One minor wish would be a key clip in one of the exterior pockets, although I could use the interior clip that holds the goggle wipe.
For what it's worth, this is not an old man jacket. The chest pockets are designed to be accessible using your opposite hand. It would be awkward at that height to use your right hand to access the right chest pocket. I welcome the smaller cinch cords as this jacket replaces a goretex shell that had so many cinch cords, I was always grabbing the wrong one.
If you're a skier/snowboarder that would like a jacket to throw on to shovel the driveway or play outside with the kids, you're going to love this jacket.
