Comments about GARMONT Men's Flash III GTX Hiking Boots:
Broke them in on Mt. Monadnock (tried to find EMS's home office on the way) and they performed flawlessly. A change of socks at the summit and that was all that was needed. I used the included inserts for added cushioning underneath the liners and that made all the difference. If you like to feel the trail, keep them out, but if it's a near-sneaker experience you're after that's the way to go. No discernable wear on the Vibram sole at all, and I was sliding down some of the steeper rocks coming back down. Was able to get traction on all but the smoothest black granite high traffic areas and moist/loose object covered faces. Very impressed! The assymetric structure made a great deal of difference to this 6'7" flat-footed guy in size 14 when lacing them up. Confidence-inspiring...and I loved the extra room for my toes. "Rock Solid" engineering design.

Comments about GARMONT Men's Flash III GTX Hiking Boots:
This is my 5th pair of the Flash XCR boots. I've had some of each of the different models (1-3). Not a hugh amount of difference between them.
The boots fit my hard to fit, high volume feet. They are comfortable provide good traction in a variety of conditions. I wear them with anything from a day pack to an expedition pack without issue. They are effective for all seasons although are not warm enough for cold weather mountaineering applications.
These boots are not uber durable. The soles and uppers will wear out after about 500 trail miles every time.
However, considering the relatively low price and the good use they provide, I reccomend them highly.

Comments about GARMONT Men's Flash III GTX Hiking Boots:
This is the third pair of this boot I have purchased.
I use it as an everyday shoe, but also have used it with crampons on an assent of the middle Teton Couloir.
Has enough foot protection for rocky trails but not too stiff.
Does tend to get a little wet in prolonged snow conditions

Comments about GARMONT Men's Flash III GTX Hiking Boots:
Got these boots at EMS as a present over the summer and love them. Much lighter than my previous pair. Took a little time to break them in but didn't get any blisters. They can definitely take a beating and put up with all of the elements. Very excited to put many more miles on them!

Comments about GARMONT Men's Flash III GTX Hiking Boots:
Not sure what to say, really. I love the look, comfort and water resistance of these shoes. Overall, well-constructed, easy to wear and excellent traction....at first. But, this is my second pair and already (only several hundred miles in) the soles are wearing out. Had a similar experience on my first pair and figured I was imagining things, but that seems to be the deal. Bottom line, really nice boots and overall I'd recommend, but if you are a high-mileage and/or heavy-load backpacker, this isn't the shoe.

Comments about GARMONT Men's Flash III GTX Hiking Boots:
Were very comfortable however after not even two years of moderate use the soles separated/ split exposing a sponge like cushon in the heel ares. The failure of the sole has caused it to absorb lots of water and now its like walking on a big squishy sponge that leaves wet marks where you walk. BEWARE

Comments about GARMONT Men's Flash III GTX Hiking Boots:
My hiking centers on rugged/rocky long-distance (10-20 miles) mountain day hikes with a 20-25 lb load. For the light weight and great fleetness of foot that these boots give, I am amazed at the degree of ankle support. They and their Flash 2 predecessors have averted several sprains. The accomodate my narrow/low-volume feet well, but I find they need to be a half size larger to reduce toe crashes on the downhill. That said, I think the flash 3's are a better fit for me than any other light/medium hiker I've owned to date. They also work really well for me when combined with the green SuperFeet inserts. The flash 2's I've owned (2 pair) wore faster than some other boots I've had, but still gave me on the order of 500 miles of rugged hiking before becoming marginal in performance (traction degrades and stitches start breaking), and I'm expecting that these to be similar. I have found that getting the forefoot lacing tight is a little bit of a challenge (likely b/c of my low-volume feet) -- I wish they had the locking hooks at ankle level that heavier boots typically have to allow for separate forefoot and upper lace tensioning. The most serious flaw of the flash 2's was their homely appearance, lol; the look of the flash 3's constitutes an evolution in the right direction (smoother/rounder lines, better colors and accents; I like this slightly grayer version of Garmont's 'sand' color).
