Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Spindrift Gaiters:
First off this is not a bad pair of Gaiters. If you're just going in the back yard or moving snow off the driveway a couple times a year then they will work great. I used these Gaiters three times before one of the grommets let go on a snowshoe hike in Franconia Notch. They can be very hard to put on and don't hold up too well to weekend hiking/walks. I would spend the extra money and upgrade to the next EMS model. It's well worth the money (I did return them and upgrade).
Pros
- Fit
- Water Resistant
Cons
- Short under heel cords
Best Uses
- Deep snow
- Heavy rain
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Spindrift Gaiters:
I wear theses when there is deep snow out. They work Great. I did have to add a longer cord to fasten under my boots. I plan to add a quick release buckles to fix this.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Spindrift Gaiters:
I purchased these gaiters to use in Afghanistan for my current job as an Army civilian. I don't use them all the time, but it's nice to have them in my pack. I've modified them by replacing the flimsy instep cord with a piece of braided wire cord and a keychain clip, and placing two snaps at the top and bottom of the velcro closure strip, as the velcro tends to gather bits of crud over time, and loses it's stickiness.
Overall, they are a decent gaiter at a price that I won't mind replacing every year or so.

Purchased for snow shoeing.
Don't like lace design for under boot.
Would have paid more for something better that attached nylon top to boot.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Spindrift Gaiters:
These gaiters are ideal for the casual weekend trip user, especially for the price. Rugged velcro front access and adjustable arch strap make it easy to put on and take off. Decent weight nylon construction stands up to typical winter trail abuse. The only very minor complaint is that a cord lock adjuster for the arch strap would have been nice, but very easy to add if you so choose.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Spindrift Gaiters:
I am a motorcycle commuter and use these gaiters for two things, rain and windchill. They are great under rain pants as they keep water from getting into the shoes and are a good wind break with highway speeds that result in a 20 degree windchill. Easy on and off.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Spindrift Gaiters:
I THINK THEY ARE GREAT! HOWEVER MY PARTNER LIKED HIS ORIGINAL ONES THAT HAD A ZIPPER CLOSURE INSTEAD OF VELCRO CLOSURE AND HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY PUT THE LACE HOOK ON THE TOP CLOSURE PIECE INSTEAD OF THE LOWER CLOSURE PIECE.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Spindrift Gaiters:
Used on a winter campout in the ADKs. Worked well for snowshoeing and while building snowcaves. Occassionally the top strap loosened up a bit, but easy to refasten.
