Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Walnut:
I just bought these last night [...]. Normally I'll walk around the store in a new pair of shoes for a while to be sure they feel good. I took about two steps and told the salesperson that I'd take them. These are about the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. Most of my shoes/boots are size 12. The 12 in these had my toes against the front. The 13 feels great. These are my first Merrells and I'm hooked.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Walnut:
This shoe is fantastic. I've had for over 2 years and they haven't disappointed. I originally bought these for a work shoe and have adapted them into my hiking selection. They have withstood 2 whole summers of daily abuse, 5 days a week of scuffing, kicking, and climbing. They fit awesome and haven'y changed since I bought them. Recent climb of a mountain in VT led me to comment mostly because of the grip the produce on all surfaces. Roots, rocks, and wet surfaces are no match for these even after the two years of harsh abuse to the soles. If I was forced to pick a gripe with would be that they took a while for me to break in. But that isn't anywhere near big enough to lower the rating to 4 stars. Simply a great shoe

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Walnut:
These are great day hike shoes. I tried them on in the store and then did a 12.4 miler w/ 4,700 feet of vertical gain up Camel's Hump that weekend in very wet conditions. The shoes were comfortable and provided good traction and they required no break-in. I previously hiked in Adidas Response Trail running shoes which are better for actual trail running. The Merrell's are a more substantial shoe providing more comfort and stability in rough terrain.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Walnut:
Just grabbed these last night as I was lusting after a pair of shoes for day hiking for a while now, and they're amazing. Greatly comfortable and the soles are awesome. Had a big snow fall last night, and when I got out of my dorm room this morning, I was really impressed by the shoes' ability to cling to ice and slippery, slushy asphalt. Even though these aren't waterproof, when I ran through a few snowbanks on the way to class, I didn't have any problems with dampness. Looking forward to crushing some trails with 'em as soon as it warms up a bit out here!

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Walnut:
This is my third version of this shoe -- it would have been more, but these shoes last so long. I love how you can just put them on and go straight onto a long hike, without any concern about having to break them in or anything like that.

I got these shoes recently and wear them everyday. They have already been put to the test in some of the harshest terrain in the world and done an excellent job. The perfect shoe for being outside doing just about any kind of walking or hiking.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Walnut:
My first Merrill ventilators are almost 20 years old. I still wear them, but it was time for a new pair. My originals were a size 10. The new ones run small, had to go to a 10.5. But, EMS exchanged them painlessly, and the new ones are comfortable. Let's see if they last as long.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Walnut:
I picked these up to replace a similar pair of Merrill trail runners from LL Bean that I use as general footwear around a brewery on non-production days. These shoes appeared the same design and were same manufacturer, however unlike my previous Merrill shoes which were extremely water resistant and had exception traction on wet stainless steel working platforms and quarry tile floors, these shoes make crossing the floor akin to walking across black ice. I've never slipped and fallen in the brewery before these shoes, but in two weeks have actually fallen twice due to catastrophic slippage while simply walking around. I also wiped out walking on wet granite rocks in my yard. Further, light spray from a hose immediately soaks through the uppers, unlike my previous Merrills. Cannot recommend these shoes at all.

Merchant response: Thank you for your review, however, based on other customers reviews we are confident that these are super grippy for the conditions they are designed for... hiking. Since your on stainless steel and tile you should stick with industry "slip-resistant" shoes designed for that terrain.
