Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Wide:
Great shoes right out of the box. Nice wide width with no pinching above the toes when the shoe flexes. Nice gentle heel strike with good traction in the fore foot area. Great cushioning under the heel. I have three pairs right now and the oldest beat up pair has worn through the rubber tread on the bottom but they still feel great around town. I have a new pair on the shelf waiting their turn.
I now look for the Made in China tag inside the tongue. The Made in Vietnam version was stiffer, with a clunky heel strike. I exchanged them.
I trim the pull straps off the back of the shoes as they act as pant leg catchers when walking. I also buy new 45" laces that lock up when you pull them tight. The shoes come with extra long laces that won't hold in a single knot.
I also have a pair of the waterproof high top version of this shoe. They do the job for winter and wet hiking but the feel is much stiffer.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Wide:
i put these shoes on everytime i leave the house. they are crazy comfortable, even right out of the box. i wasn't sure if i should order the wide or the regular shoe, i ended up with the wide. i read a lot of reviews that said they ran a little small and returned them for a half size up. i did that in addition to getting the wide and it was proabbly the best dicision i ever made. when i first put them on, i thought i had been wearing them for months and put thousands of miles on them. the trails here are mostly mixed terrain between mud and gravel but they don't have any problems cleaning off or drying out. good on merrell for these, its a shame i'm not going to buy more soon, they will last a long time.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Wide:
I have purchased four of these over the last few years. I wear them ALL the time. Winter and summer. Need wool socks in the winter. I had foot issues so am sticking with these winners.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Wide:
If you have a narrow heel and wide fore foot, these shoes should be looked at. I often find that narrow shoes have narrow toe boxes and wider toe box shoes have wide heels. For those that have the narrow heel/wide toe box foot, These could be a solution for a all-terrain, casual street shoe.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Wide:
I have been wearing these shoes for several years - I'm about to purchase my third pair, and each of the previous pairs have lasted me almost exactly two years of constant use. I use them as everyday shoes, but have also been on several light hiking trips using them. Overall, I think that they have performed quite well.
I also wore them for a six-week trip to Europe last year that included several hiking trips in northern Italy and Mt. Olympus in Greece. In each case, the shoes served me quite well and provided comfort and support where I needed it.
As would be expected for low-top shoes, there is not a huge amount of ankle support. And when they say that they are not waterproof, that is noticeable very quickly in damp conditions. But a waterproof version of the show is available if that is a major concern.
I seems pretty clear that Merrell produces a high quality product, and one that is very comfortable. I am sure that there are many good trail shoes available, but I would highly recommend trying these out if you are in the market for a pair.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Wide:
Stick to the groomed trails. I love mine and wear daily, but they are not for hiking through the woods. I had a wonderful pair of low hikers that wore out and I own 3 pairs of Merrell, but these are brown sneakers, not real hikers. If they made the Reflex in low, it would be a better choice for the woods. But on a rough trail or bush whacking, you feel every rock and root, not good.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab Ventilator Hiking Shoes, Wide:
These shoes are probably the most comfortable I have owned ever. They fit right out of the box and feel like a pair of slippers on your feet. They have an aggressive tread and light-weight construction.
Keep in mind if considering these they are a light weight, light duty day hiker. Wearing my pack with these for any period of time is nearly impossible due to utter lack of support and waterproofing.
I did not buy these shoes to march up the White Mountains in. I bought them to put on after I get out of the woods and take off my hiking boots. They are super comfy, just understand what you are buying them for.
I give 5 stars as they don't advertise themselves as being super aggressive hikers. And did I mention how comfortable they are?
