Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab GTX Hiking Shoes, Dark Chocolate:

I bought these, my first pair of hiking shoes, in Eatontown NJ, a day before a 5-mile hike at the Weis Ecology Center. The shoes handled the rocky terrain very well, and I did not get even a single callous/blister. I recommend these shoes very much. A friend of mine had Merrell boots, and he raved about them. Now I know why :-[...]- I have bought a lot of gear including tent, sleeping bags, pads, outerwear, mess kits, clothes etc. The salesmen were always very helpful. Thanks, EMS!

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab GTX Hiking Shoes, Dark Chocolate:

I am a golf caddie. I walk 5 hours carrying 60+ lbs. of equipment. The grass is always wet first thing in the morning and therefore so are my feet. These shoes are great. Comfortable, sturdy, and most importantly DRY. Not only did they keep water out, the exterior was dry 20 minutes after being wet for the previous 5 hours.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab GTX Hiking Shoes, Dark Chocolate:

I hate wearing boots in the winter time and sneakers always get wet, especially in slushy conditions. I bought these so I could have something that was not as clunky, but could still have that sneaker feel. It worked, no wet foot from now on and I no longer feel like I am wearing concrete blocks on my feet. I think these will also work great in the summer for hiking. Oh, almost forgot, I bought these shoes for winter biking too...my feet in my other sneakers were always getting wet going through puddles and slush, won't have that problem anymore.

The only thing is they are a little heavy, but that must be from the heavy-duty sole. It seems like these will last a lot longer than normal sneakers. So, hopefully durability will make up for the weight. Overall, I like these way better than any boot I will ever have, the uses for these will be many, and the extra weight is so minimal that I don't think anyone wouldn't notice after extended use.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab GTX Hiking Shoes, Dark Chocolate:

I ordered a size 12, my usual size, and the Merrell Moab GTX shoes were too small. My toes went all the way to the end. So, I exchanged them for a size 13, and they were too big and wide. I ended up returning the shoes and gave up on Merrell's. I decided to go with the North Face Ultra 106 Gore-Tex XCR's. Too bad, because I really liked the look and prices of the Merrell Moab's.

A huge disappointment. I was looking for a versatile trail shoe and this was highly recommended [...]. I've tried for almost a year to break in these shoes but in the end this is just a poorly constructed shoe, at least for me. My toes are constricted, my foot gets hot too quickly, and the sole is coming off (in toe area) as other reviewers have described. I am not one to complain, I've certainly given this shoe plenty of chances but in the end I felt compelled to share my frustration. I'm sorry to say this but I feel I was steered to the wrong shoe. I should have returned them but I kept thinking that the problem was me.

i have bought 3 pairs of these shoes and put on over 1600 hours on them. They are very comfortable for me.i didn't have any ankle, knee or blister problems. I used different insoles though(vasque, heat moulded).the souls do detach from the shoe but that is after walking all day for 5months, so i don't think that's bad.the waterproofing is great until dirt and debris gets in the shoe and breaks thru the liner very easily, so wearing with shorts in the woods might not be a good idea if u want to keep them waterproof[...]they have very good stability and traction.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab GTX Hiking Shoes, Dark Chocolate:

First off when I bought these shoes I loved them, they're comfortable waterproof and have amazing traction. About two months into ownership I met a colleague with the same shoes who forewarned me about the shoes problem with sole detachment; hi shoe were about three months older than mine. I never wore these shoes day in and day out but sure enough five months into ownership the sole began to detach and currently is on the verge of making the shoe unusable. With the exception of this fact I love the shoe and I would love to buy another pair if I wasn't sure the sole would detach again. So in the end I really feel cheated and I'll be looking at other options like the chameleon.

Comments about MERRELL Men's Moab GTX Hiking Shoes, Dark Chocolate:

Wore these shoes regularly when the weather was wet or muddy. Fairly early the sole started to detach at the front. When it got bad enough I took them back to EMS. The assistant manager said to get some shoe goo, which I did, but it only lasted a short time. I really liked the shoes til they fell apart. It seemed quite premature. I had the shoes for about a year and a half, but didn't wear them much in the summer or when the snow was deep.
