Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Crocodile Gaiters:
I purchased these gaiters for mountaineering. I am 5'10" tall, but because of my giant, size 13, Scarpa Inverno boots, I needed the XXL size, which do fit the boots well. While their design and construction is excellent, I would have liked a choice of different heights because they go up over the bottom of my knees.
Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Crocodile Gaiters:
With trepidation, I ordered a small (wear size 7 boot and am short). They fit terrifically. "Patent-leather" strap is snazzy! have not hiked in them yet but will be trying them out later in the Canadian Rockies.
Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Crocodile Gaiters:
These are as good as their reputation would indicate. They stay in place and keep snow out. The fabric held up to a season of woods trekking. Don't cheap out! This is a quality product you'll be glad you have.
Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Crocodile Gaiters:
purchased them for late spring hiking in snow/mud and snowshoeing during winter. Adjustments are easy and they stay in place with no problems.
Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Crocodile Gaiters:
They didn't fit so i returned them. I bought the medium and I should have gotten a large. They didn't fit around my winter boots. They would have been fine for my hiking boots. They are obviously well built and I liked the strap and velco design much better than my old gaiters. Just the size didn't work out for this trip.
Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Crocodile Gaiters:
Fit great. Easy to put on ,comfortable and dry over NF Gortex style summer hiking "sneakers" after HOURS in 30 degrees and 1 foot powder hiking up and down.
Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Crocodile Gaiters:
I wore these up La Malinche (14640'), Iztaccihuatl(17160'), and through a foot of fresh powder on Pico de Orizaba (18405') while mountaineering in Mexico. The material is strong and had no problem adapting to crampon use, they fit well over my large mountaineering boots and the bottom boot strap held up well over the rocks. The bottom hook that attaches to the boot laces has to be lined up properly with the velcro which at times was a pain and the top cinching strap often bunched up during tightening. If I didn't have glove liners and mittens on when putting these on it would not have been a problem. Overall, GREAT strong gaiters!
Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Crocodile Gaiters:
I checked out all of the popular gaiters. Mountain Hardwear, EMS, Black Diamond. These seemed to be the best of the bunch. So far I've been really happy with them. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the flimsy strap that secures the top of the gaiter. It hasn't been a problem yet but it doesn't look like it will last forever.

I walk to work and they completely protect work clothes
Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Crocodile Gaiters:
My first pair of gaiters. Most of the people that I hike with use gaiters. They told me that I should try them but I wasn't really interested. This winter I started snowshoeing and I didn't want to rip my good outer pants, so I baught theses gaiters. They work great. I was afraid that they wouldn't breath well, but I was wrong. They fit really well, look like they are solidly constructed, and keep the snow, water, and dirt out of my boots. I'm not sure if I'll enjoy them as much in summer. We'll have to wait and see.
