Comments about VASQUE Men's Breeze GTX Hiking Boots, Taupe:
I have bought these shoes for the past three or four years and get about one year out of them. They are comfortable and fit my feet well, but the soles wear down quicker than I would like and the gore-tex liner stays waterproof for only about six months before breaking down. As the soles wear, the shoes are much more slippery on wet surfaces, because the smaller grooves in the tread get worn away. Good shoe, but I only feel like I get my money's worth when I buy them on sale.

Comments about VASQUE Men's Breeze GTX Hiking Boots, Taupe:
do not buy these boots. i bought these three weeks ago and i climbed mt monadnock 5 days a week for those three weeks and the sides blew out (tore) on me. they are comfortable from the start but the waterproofing is not good and they are not a durable boot! since then i have returned them and went for an asolo fugitive, which i love. Go asolo!

Comments about VASQUE Men's Breeze GTX Hiking Boots, Taupe:
I hike 25 to 35 miles per week, at least 7,000' of vertical on rough terrain in the summer and use for snowshoeing all winter long atop Mt San Jacinto. Provide great traction, support and comfort - never any need to break in. I buy 'in advance' and keep in inventory - currently have two pairs in reserve! I don't ever want to be without them!

Comments about VASQUE Men's Breeze GTX Hiking Boots, Taupe:
This is one of the best pairs of hiking boots I've had. I wanted something more substantial than a pair of "light hiking" boots that would provide increased support and comfort. Perfect fit since they came out of the box, virtually no break-in period. Waterproof enough for fairly wet hikes. The only complaint-Its wearing a bit more quickly than I'd like where the sole meets the leather.

Comments about VASQUE Men's Breeze GTX Hiking Boots, Taupe:
I love these hiking boots, and I will replace them with the exact same thing when they eventually wear out.I'm female but got a men's boot because it felt like it fit better, so I don't have the complaint that some reviewers seem to have with the boot feeling narrow. I have wide feet, but my boots don't feel narrow or restrictive in fit. There was virtually no break-in period. The boots were comfortable from the start, yet they've only become increasingly comfortable over time. I have never gotten a blister wearing them. Initially I wasn't sure if my foot might have been slipping in the boot a bit, but better lacing corrected that, and I've never had a problem with it since.I wear the boots primarily on 5-12 mile day hikes over a lot of rocks, roots, etc. They offer enough ankle support to keep one from wrenching an ankle, enough traction to keep from slipping, enough buffer to keep from feeling the pounding of even really rocky trails - yet they aren't stiff and heavy. They could easily be worn out walking the dog, and it wouldn't feel like there were anchors tied to your feet. After several months, the outer surface of the boot shows some nicks from use, but I just wore them in a combination of rain, snow, and soupy mud over several miles, and my feet were totally dry after all day on the trail. My friend commented that she wasn't surprised that her boots kept her dry but that mine looked like they'd be as porous and sneakers. They do look that way, but they're remarkably protective.I can't say enough good things about these boots. They're exactly what I was looking for, [...]

Comments about VASQUE Men's Breeze GTX Hiking Boots, Taupe:
I bought these boots a little over a year ago and they already started to die on me. I maybe put 70 miles on them. I started with the EMS Mens Bomber and those were some beast boots I had two diffrent pairs of them and they lasted two and a half years maybe three and I wore my last pair of them out to Philmont and covered 74 miles in 11 days and they lasted fine. Philmont is a High Adventure Boy Scout Camp in Cimarron New Mexico and I'm going back this summer.

Comments about VASQUE Men's Breeze GTX Hiking Boots, Taupe:
I bought this boot prior to a trip to South Africa 2007. I can attest to its breathability, warmth and sure footedness during my travel: Cape Town to Mpayathutlwa Pan, onward to the Baviaanskloop Wilderness area and Indian ocean. Awesome boot. Held up in the hottest regions, very surefooted on the rocky outcrops. Cool in day, warm in the evening. No blisters or sores.
I have since worn this boot here in the states, hiking in Adirondacks, both during summer & winter (to the ski slope) and around the town in Manhattan.
I still have this boot and wear it daily. It is showing outside wear on the mesh. Tread's are still superb.
Highly recommend!

Comments about VASQUE Men's Breeze GTX Hiking Boots, Taupe:
Comfortable right out of the box, needing little break-in. Very dissatisfied with waterproofing; the water resistance on my boots failed in rain after only 3 months. These boots are not particularly durable and are coming apart after 18 months. Not bad for casual hiking in good weather but not the best purchase for rugged and wet conditions. Due to the poor waterproofing I cannot recommend these and will not purchase again.

Comments about VASQUE Men's Breeze GTX Hiking Boots, Taupe:
I hike 25 to 30 miles a week and gain 7,500' vertical on average - hiking in hot deserts near Palm Springs, atop our 10,834' Mt San Jacinto all summer and from city to summit, gaining 8,500' to 11,000' in a single 9 mile to 14 mile hike, as well as in the High Sierras, including Whitney. These boots are GREAT - buy two to three at a time when on sale. Great fit, light, stay dry and very comfortable. My only 'small negative' is they seem to wear faster than I'd like but it may be the rocky, difficult terrain. I'd rather Fight than Switch - a Great Boot for a Good Price.

Merchant response: We're happy to hear the Asolo Fugitive's are working for you. The Vasque Breeze boots clearly shouldn't have fallen apart like youd described. We've sold them for years and durability has not been an issue sounds like a defective pair. To be fair the waterproofing in the Breeze is a Gore-Tex XCR bootie which is just slightly less waterproof than the GTX bootie in your new Asolo's. The advantage of the XCR bootie is its more breathable than the standard GTX bootie. By far the majority of waterproof boots and apparel on the market today are using Gores XCR application.
