Comments about SCARPA Men's Kailash GTX Hiking Boots:
Nice hiking boot with virtually no break in required. These boots are a nice compromise to the all leather hiking boots.
Getting the correct size can be problematic when purchasing from an on-line vendor. No noticeable arch support. Narrow toe box which, I believe, is why the sizing may feel 1/2 to a full size too small. The heel of the boot is elevated so it promotes good forward foot roll. However, using after-market inserts, with an elevated heel, makes the boot feel smaller and tends to push your foot forward into the small toe box area.
No noticeable wear areas on the fabric as of yet. Laces could be longer especially if your foot is thick or you have high arches. I believe this boot would suit individuals with a narrow foot and low to medium arches.
My recommendation: Try the Scarpa's on before buying them and bring along your inserts.

Comments about SCARPA Men's Kailash GTX Hiking Boots:
I wore these twice since I bought them, hiking on some easy trails with my family and along the edge of a ravine. I walked in water, mud, pine needles and shale all day and thought the support, water resistance and overall comfort level was superb. I have never spent this much money on a pair of boots before, and now I know why I have never been completely satisfied until now. They fit perfect right out of the box and feel great !

Comments about SCARPA Men's Kailash GTX Hiking Boots:
I've had these boots for over a year now and I really think they are great. Aside from a few quibbles, which I will mention later, these are probably the best boots I've ever had.
First off, they are a year old and look almost identical to when I got them. I used to work in landscaping and I wore them every day for 6 months. They are obviously heavier than a lot of other boots EMS carries but they don't feel heavy when you are wearing them. The sole is stiff enough to give great support on any terrain and the goretex has done it's job the whole time. I did initially feel like they took a long time to break in, and maybe I don't really mean break in exactly because they were never actually uncomfortable, it just took a few weeks before they really got to be as good as they can be. My only complaint with them is that the speed lacers seem to be a bit small, meaning that the laces tend to come unhooked once or twice a day. This might be more an issue since I have skinny ankles or something. The real reason anyone should consider these is the quality. They have taken plenty of abuse in the adirondacks in the fall to spring and summer hikes all over PA and NY; yet they look good as new and the sole looks like it's got another year left in it.

Comments about SCARPA Men's Kailash GTX Hiking Boots:
I actually like this boot, traction is overall very good, support is good insoles are basically worthless but that is not unusual. All of my complaints are with the fit. I ordered a 13 my normal size. In this size the right foot seamed to be a little tight at the ball of the foot area but the left was not only tight it jammed the toes so tight it could not be worn. I would say these run a half size small. I returned them and EMS special ordered me a size 14. Thought that might work and out of the box they did fit better but were still tight in the ball area of the foot. However I was again disappointed, after wearing them out on a multi day Backpacking fishing trip my feet were killing me . This is a narrow boot in the front and has no give and being a size larger the heal was to lose. I have to add I have a wide front foot with a narrow ankle so I am a hard fit anyway. But I have to add there was nothing I could do to adjust the fit. Tried several types of insoles different adjustments on the laces nothing worked and they were special order so I guess I am stuck. If you have a narrow foot I think this boot would be a good fit just not for me and my big feet.,

Comments about SCARPA Men's Kailash GTX Hiking Boots:
Great boot, use on day hikes, looks great, strong support, on issue is feet seem to perspire in winter with heavy socks, maybe normal, but real test will be in summer with lighter socks. I did have to return to get one size larger, went from 44 to 45. Big difference. Bought original pair at EMS store, when I returned the store didn't have the larger size(45) so associate walked me through the in store kiosk, ordering on Internet, free shipping, this worked great, combo store Internet purchase!!! Also, a post purchase sale got me 40 dollars off, which resulted in a gift card, which reminds me, I have to use it! Modern retailer, best service, great product, always get a little nervous with such important purchase as an everyday hiking boot, and the boots are expensive but worth

Comments about SCARPA Men's Kailash GTX Hiking Boots:
Only having worn these boots once before, I wore them for 11 hours yesterday on a 60 mile adventure race (bike, hike, canoe). These boots were fantastic- comfortable, tough, and water-resistant. It just takes one step into a stream to wash away any buyer's remorse over selecting Gore-Tex boots. I can't imagine another boot functioning better.

Comments about SCARPA Men's Kailash GTX Hiking Boots:
Got these boots, zero break in, and headed into the sand dunes/Sangre De Cristo mountains in CO. From hot hiking with a 50lb pack through the sand dunes, to peak climbing 14,000' plus, the boots performed well. Size felt right, nice support, not too hot, great traction, very happy with them. Didn't get into any real wet conditions so I can't comment on water resistance yet. Overall very pleased with them!
