I have used this product for the past year on multiple hikes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and have been very pleased with it. The ability to have your topo map protected and readily available is great. The overall size, unfolded, is about 10" x 12" and you loose about 1/2" both ways on the viewing side due to the seam and rounded corners. While somewhat small for the scale of the 7.5 min quads, it allows you to display plenty of map to cover your average dayhike. I carry a larger scale trail map for use in identification of distance objects, so the size doesnt bother me.
The only small issue that I have with this product is the size of the opening for inserting the map. It is about 1" smaller than the viewing area, requiring a bit of accordian-style folding of the map to get it in. Otherwise you will have to fold your map smaller and have wasted space. I have easily fit two quad maps taped together in this, so there is plenty of overall volume. For longer hikes or triangulating position you may have to remove/refold your map, but even with these minor quirks I consider this an extremely useful product.

I bought this to attach to my pack with the thought that I would be able to stop laminating my maps myself and having to stuff the them wherever they fit, hoping they don't fall out on the trail.
This case will keep your maps dry and attached where you want them, so by those qualities it's a winner. However, there doesn't seem to be any thought about how the thing is put together or sized. It doesn't fit even folds of any standard map scales and the opening is about 3/4 of an inch smaller than the inside width, so you either have to wedge your map through, or deal with a bunch of wasted space.
It works, but I expected the typical thoughtfulness that comes with the purchase of an Osprey product. This doesn't qualify.
