This was definitely the worst freeze-dried meal I have ever eaten. The main ingredients are beans and textured soy protein (TSP). The beans were better than expected and did not remain 'hard' or 'crunchy' after letting it sit for the suggested cook time. The texture was a little off, which I attribute to the TSP. The meal would have been MUCH better if they removed the TSP (or significanly reduced it) and replaced it with rice instead. The flavors were not bad, although it was pretty spicy-I would say a 6 or 7 on a 1 to 10 scale. I enjoy spicy, but this chili should be toned down a bit to satisfy a broader audience. I will confirm the other reviewer's comments about excessive gas. I eat beans regularly with little problem, so I attribute the gas to the soy, which I do not eat regularly. Overall, I would not recommend this meal.
