Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports JETBOIL Jetpower 230 Fuel Canister:
Not truly a 4 season blend as my first attempt with this fuel was at -5 and it started to become useless in ten minutes.
Pros
- Works Great
Cons
- Too big for the flash

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports JETBOIL Jetpower 230 Fuel Canister:
Works great but it DOESN'T FITinside the jetboil flash mug which is a pain because it will take up more space in your pack. I realized this when i tested the fit on my flash and exchanged it the next day for a few of the smaller cans which DO fit inside the flash for easy storage. If packing isn't an issue, this is a great fuel can.

Merchant response: We spoke to the reps at Jetboil and they shared the following helpful info::
"We have had mountaineers use Jetboil PCS stoves up to 8,000 m (26,000 ft) on Mt. Everest and love them. The key to using any canister stove in the cold is to keep the canister warm before using it (in a coat pocket, for instance). The pressure in the canister is proportional to temperature and as the canister gets colder, the pressure drops and therefore the heat output from the burner drops. However, by keeping the canister warm before use, it is possible to use the stove with reasonable performance even when the ambient temperature is at and below 0 Fahrenheit. Placing the canister on or in a small piece of foam to keep it insulated from snow will also help. The PCS is rated at 20 degrees Fahrenheit, without taking the measures just described.
For trip planning purposes our typical recommendation is assume 6 liters boiled per 100 g Jetpower canister when melting snow and 10 liters if just heating water. These values are somewhat conservative, and it will never hurt to bring extra in case of emergency. Note that in either case you will boil/melt about twice the snow per canister with Jetboil as with any other canister stove. We also suggest practicing melting snow in a Jetboil first so that you are familiar with the process before an outing.
Altitude in itself is not so much of a problem: the pressure difference between the canister and the environment is also greater for any given temperature, so the effective gas flow rate is higher even when the canister is cold. The reduced oxygen causes the burner to burn richer, which is also helpful in the cold. Finally we do suggest that you always carry matches, in case the piezoelectric igniter fails."
Please note that the new Helios stove has been designed for cold weather, and uses a liquid feed rather than an evaporative process, so that you have consistency in burn times throughout the life of the canister, and you do not have the drop in performance in the cold. The Helios system has a temperature rating of -10 degrees Fahrenheit."
