I use this product for daily local trips and recently traveled across the country with it. On longer trips, you must be mindful to tighten the bolts at the head of the unit connected to the front crossbar and tighten the clamp that holds the fork. I got a lot of sway as it loosened, but no accidents. This is not a general condition, however, I have a Subaru hatchback and after installing the unit as far forward as possible, i couldn't open the trunk more than 12". This rack is okay for the price, but more importantly, check all the specs against what you're installing it on and measure!
