The pocket-sized Black Diamond® Icon Headlamp is a three-watt LED spotlight with four super bright LEDs for brilliant close-range lighting. Weighs only 4.1 ounces with three AA batteries.Features/Benefits:
- Battery-power meter uses three indicator lights: green (50% or more), yellow (20% or more) and red (less than 20%).

Checked all the options for headlamps and kept coming back to the BD Icon. The output from this is staggering, I upgraded from an older Princeton Tec and am amazed at how far the technology has come. Lots of adjustments on the two different bulbs lets one use this lamp for almost every occasion.
The lamp is a bit heavy for a minimalists, but is very comfortable and has not posed a problem after wearing for hours.
Very happy with my choice on the Icon, and got it for a great price on EMS.

Black dimond have slim down their Long duration head lamp, and the quality is not there anymore. I love my old Black dimond head lamps, and I have been using it since 2002 with heavy duty plastic casing 4 AA batteries w/ low bat. flashing warning. I drop it down 50 ft on tarmac, and the new Icon head lamp batteries cover have poor fitting , and it cracked @ 3 months. @ 9months everything that is platic start cracking with light usage.

I haven't been able to use the headlamp hiking or camping yet, but I've found numerous around-the-house applications. It has been very helpful with chores like painting, carpentry, sewing, illuminating items while fixing them, and simply walking the dog at night.
So far the headlamp has been great.

This light is perfect for its purpose: strong light with various adjustments of beam width and strength. The straps adjust very securely to your head allowing jogging. Th ebattery structure is well balanced. I am not sure about durability yet, but it seems fine. This is not the lightest light, but it is not heavy and unless you are an UltraLight backpacker you are fine with this for long backpacking and camping trips as well as BBQ ing in the dark...

I have not had a chance to try this in the field. But initial thoughts are Man this thing is bright. Kinda like looking in the sun! Appears well made. Alot more testing to follow.

I used to use the Tika XP headlamp but had issues with headaches after running all night the the batteries hanging to the front of my head. This one is so much better, distributes the weight so evenly. Ran all night and even wore it after the sun came up since I forgot I had it on. Finished the Kettle Moraine 100 mile run this year with it when over 60% of the entrants dropped out. This headlamp comes highly recommended by me.

This product has become the must have among people I know! I bought it because my husband had it and I was jealous, then people that we have shown it to appear with it.... it's an awesome product! The brightness is what sold me and I have yet to find out other benefits as it is still new.

I truly like this headlamp. It fit very comfortably even though it seemed like the battery pack on the headband would be heavy and hard. The quantity of light it gives off is impressive and the quality of the light is great! I have not used it long enough to comment on the battery life but it must be good given the AA batteries and the efficiency of LED lighting. Great headlamp, much better than holding rubber, bad tasting flashlight in your mouth while you set up camp.
