After ten years of using a flat file and a rag to sharpen my base edges, and an aluminum block for edge filing, I finally purchased one of these little guys; I couldn't be happier. Once you figure out which way to use it for base vs. side edges, this thing is a breeze. It's very stable, handles well, and the included file works great. It's great for beginning of the season make-overs and weekly tune-ups, alike. The only negative I can think of is that the little file piece might be tough to replace due to its small size. If you like to tune your own skis/board, this thing is totally worth the $.

I've used this edger from Swix 3 times now, and like it. For what it does it is quite good; a portable, quick and cheap way to put a sharper edge on your skis. I found that I wanted another side bevel setting (3 degrees) to be perfect. The instructions are a bit confusing, so skip the descriptions and just follow the pictures.
I got this as a starter to taking care of my own equipment and it's good for that, the next step up is a file guide with different angles and separate clamp-on files.
