Comments about KRYPTONITE Kryptkeeper Lock:
I used this bike lock for many years and its great for outside the city kind've activities. But do not rely on this bike lock alone in any city. I had mine cut and my bike stolen just last week in Philadelphia. I would still use this lock but as a back up for my tires.

GREAT product. Easy to use. Good protection. But NOTHING is a definite safety device. If someone wants to steal a bike they are going to. But looking at this lock is a GREAT deterrent!!!!

Comments about KRYPTONITE Kryptkeeper Lock:
The lock requires the key to be inserted while locking the bike; I found it cumbersome to need to hold the lock around the object while making sure the key does not fall out as I am trying to insert the lock while turning the key.
After 4 months of use it became difficult to insert and remove the key, I lubed the lock to correct this. After lubing the lock, the plastic case around the lock hole began to slide over (the lock was rotating in the casing) this made it difficult to lock the bike up.
Recently the wire was cut and my bike was stolen. I would say the lock worked well until someone decided they wanted to take my bike, at which point I would guess they used some bolt cutters to snipped through the wire.

Merchant response: As two wheeled commuters we hate to hear...'snip its gone'. The comments from a previous reviewer are sadly true...if someone wants to steel a bike they will. Heavy duty bolt cutters are all to easy to find. That said the mechanism of this lock is fairly standard although it sounds as though something wasn't working right with yours. U-Locks are more of a hassle to travel with...but are far safer.
