I have used this for both cycling and running on the roads. I would add some sort of front light to your bike if you do a lot of riding in modertae to heavy traffic areas as i have found that oncoming traffic making left hand turns may not be able to see you while cycling because your chest is lowered while leaning over on ones handle bars and it obscures the vest from oncoming traffic

Jim from Oregon is right about the LED. It's awful. Mine didn't stay on unless the button was held down, just like his...UNTIL I figured out that if you push the bottom battery lower, to touch a metal strip that is sticking up, it will stay on, then you have to move the battery again to turn it off. Pretty tenuous and not what is advertised. Still, there are lots of reflective areas on this vest and I might keep it just for those. I don't think any of them are going to have great LED functionality; it seems cheaply made. If you really want great visibility via LED buy a Beacon by Ruffwear. Yes, it's for dogs but it can be clipped onto your zipper pull, pocket, etc. and it emits a bright light from 4 sides, steady or blinking. [...]

Easy to use and fit the need for visibility in urban biking. The lighting adds another level of safety for those rides that extend into the evening. I look for any advantage in the "US vs THEM" battle and this light weight vest helps me stay visible.

For road biking - OK

For running, the up/down jarring/vibration have caused it to shut off now 3 out of 4 times - you don't notice this until you remove it. Makes me nervous realizing this after I my 1.5 yo son out in stroller - No Back Lighting!

They should have tied the back LED into a front power button & extra LED strip. Good concept, poor design team.

On/Off switch did not work - it would only work when switch was held down on the "ON" position - once relesed it would not work. Good concept, color of vest was very bright/reflective. On/Off switch and battery holder looked very "cheap" and poorly constructed. To bad, since a little more work and higher quality switch and battery holder would have this a very good product. I live in Eugene, Oregon - we have an extensive bike path system, and safety products to be seen are very important.
