Comments about SHIMANO M520 ATB Pedals:
The M520 ATB Pedal is a perfect example of improved Shimano technology. My M505 pedals (which I received second-hand) were very nice, but I wanted to ride on newer technology pedals, esp. since the M505 were showing signs of wear. (I also needed another pair, since my Kogamiyata bike needs the M505's)
I've only got about 30 mins of riding time on the M520 pedals, but I immedialtely noticed the better way my SH-RT50 shoes sat when I locked the cleats in the pedals. There is no feeling of sliding on a platform (as on the M505), because Shimano removed it on the M520.
This is a pedal I would recommend to anyone who needs good ATB pedals on Road or Mountain bikes.
I use ATB systems because I need to be able to get out of my pedals fast, because I use my bike for all my riding (also to my clients)...

- Dual Sided Entry
- Increases Pedaling Efficiency

Comments about SHIMANO M520 ATB Pedals:
mine lasted for 1500 miles. They started to develop the most annoying ticking noise after about 1300 miles, but it took me 200 miles to figure out that the noise did not come from anywhere else than the pedal.
Upon pedal replacement the noise went away. I disassembled one pedal and discovered that one of the load-bearing parts was made of plastic! No wonder they could not stand my 18% climbs....
