Comments about SEA TO SUMMIT Ultra-Sil Pack Liner, Medium:
I've used Sea to Summit sacks before, so there was no question it would keep things dry. I needed some for my latest trip and was surprised to find that I could get one for the whole pack, which means I don't need to buy several smaller ones. It fit in the pack well, and after I got used to it (fold the top over the pack edges when loading and pull it up as you load to keep it tight) it was great! Everything stayed dry, I didn't have to worry about anything in my pack (or about my water bladder bursting in there), and didn't need a pack cover either! The peace of mind was great!

Comments about SEA TO SUMMIT Ultra-Sil Pack Liner, Medium:
I used the 70 liter version of this pack liner with an Osprey Aether 70 on a 70 km trek in the Icelandic highlands. Except for one day the weather was exceptional, but oh that one day! Rain, sleet and snow flurries, mostly sideways pelted our group and the river crossings didn't help. However, as wet as I was, the gear inside my pack was dry inside the pack liner, even though my pack cover never quite stayed on all the way. It sure beats the old zip lock bag method since the liner is much lighter than the bags. Good product.
Pros
- Easy to use
- Great fit for my pack
Cons
- Makes packing up hard

Comments about SEA TO SUMMIT Ultra-Sil Pack Liner, Medium:
on Jan. 7 I began an A.T. thru-hike. (currentlly at mile 1092) One of the pieces of gear that made me excited was the new ultra-sil pack linnner from sea to summit. I had seen alot of good reviews about them before I bought. But what I found was very diffrent than what I had seen. the first problem was that although they work better than trash bags the ultra-sil nylon just can't put up a fight against hard items in your pack that rub all day every day and it wasn't long before I had a hole with new holes appering every time I pulled it out of my pack. the second problem is that after a couple months on the trail it was no longer water proof. it seemed as though the silicone treatment had rubbed off the nylon so when it rained the water that made it through my pack would slowlly seep into my gear. all in all... great idea that needs some work. in the mean time I'm going to get a pack cover.

Comments about SEA TO SUMMIT Ultra-Sil Pack Liner, Medium:
I bought an ultra-sil pack-liner after reading Backpacker Magazine gave it an Editor's Choice award. I used it initially for backpacking only but tried it as a stuff-sack in a kayak on a multi-day trip. Even though the bag was frequently sitting in a puddle of water and exposed to spray, it always kept the contents bone dry. It is also much easier to pack then traditional vinyl dry bags enabling you to fit much more inside. It scared me at first how thin the fabric was but it has proved very durable--it was forced into a cubby that had hardened fiberglass barbs jutting out that I had neglected to sand down but the fabric never ripped. --11th essential for all my multi-day outings.
