It's a very weak plastic for a Nalgene product. I'd go a little bigger and get something thicker. This container could easily be crushed by some object in your pack. I now use it for Goldfish and Cherri o transportation for my daughter.

I use these to take fresh fruit and such on the river with me in my sometimes not so dry drybag. They are waterproof, tough and easy to clean. One of the most versital items I have.
