I haven't had this clock that long but it doesn't tick any louder than any other analog clock. Alarm might not wake a heavy sleeper but should be ok for most.
The back of this clock is the side that would be helpful to view, it seems a little unprotected and certainly not considered in the design process. The clock part sticks out a little and the buttons more so, for something that has such a streamlined front and would be packed with other things that it could catch on.
DO NOT buy this clock on the basis of whatever they're calling the "world-time graph". It is worse than useless, telling 19 hours (?) to get NY time from GMT instead of simply subtracting 6 for NY.
I'm still wondering what 19 refers to.
But not a bad little clock.
