Just pop the plastic factory covers and insert the lock cylinder with the change key, and you're ready to go. I tried looking every which way to see if they're 'easy' to bypass - but it looks like they're solid. Of course, if someone wants something bad enough...they're not heavy-duty chains. But hey, someone could rip of your car doors if they really wanted, so...
They're SUPER easy to install, work smoothly - and look like they'll be keeping my bike plenty safe.
One suggestion: Make sure to consider ALL possible locks for your rig, so you can order the appropriate number of cylinders. Eg - I needed 8: 4 for the AeroFoot pads, 2 for the short roof adapter, and 1 ea/ for the bike racks. I only do bikes - but other systems (kayaks? surfboards?) may require more. Plan accordingly.

Better than nothing. Still can't install on my Hullavator, but managed to get them on the load rack with some effort. I'd only recommend because even a hard to install lightweight lock is probbly better than nothing.

The first time I used these locks, I had four of them on my car and one got stuck shut. We couldn't even get the key into it. It took 3 of us with 7 tools about 20 minutes to get our boards free. All of this broke the lock - which was broken, I guess, anyway. I hope it was an isolated incident. Otherwise, I like them....

They are locks. Pretty self explanatory but definitely a good idea unless you want to find stuff missing. Well worth the money for a little peace of mind.

The Thule bmw 753 rack doesn't accept the locks that I ordered when I ordered the rack. It would have been helpful if some sort of notification was made with the rack that the Thule locks will not work with this specific rack. [...]
