As an intermediate Kayaker in my upper 50s I got very tired of lifting my kayak on the hull-a -port after a day of paddling. These are spectacularly easy to load and tie down securely. I have no problem driving with these for 200+ miles. I actually feel more secure with these than my old carrier.

I have limited use of one arm and needed to find a rack that would allow me to load and unload a kayak unassisted. I intended to buy the pricier Slipstream. Once the salesperson learned I intended to use a Volvo XC70 to transport my kayak he convinced me that Set & Go would do the trick. I used this product on a two week kayaking trip and it was amazing. I was able to load and unload my kayak with minimal effort. The systems provide a secure perch for my kayak even after 8 hours of highway driving.

I use the product a little differently that it was designed. I have a Dodge Journey that I use to transport 3 Kayaks. My Hurricane is on a Hullivator - that lets my 59 yo body load and unload when I'm alone. When I added the first sit on kayak, I used the J-Rack. Then they both wanted to go, so I loaded the third kayak between the Hullivator and the J rack. Hard to load - and not very secure. The replaced the J with the stacker, but it was still difficult to load = put 10 yr old son on car roof to assist. Now I have solved the dilemma and secured the two sit on tops with a novel use of the 833 Glide and Set. I put the stacker so it is midway between the Hullvator and the outside of the bar. Then on one side of the bar, I have attached one of the Front and Back glides-so that the saddles face the Stacker bar-at a distance between the Hullivator and the Stacker so that the yak rests securely on its side. I attach the other Front and Back glide on the outside of the stacker with the saddles facing the Stacker and prevents slippage off the side when loading and unloading. everybody know our car: one bright orange and white, one purple and one chartreuse kayak zipping down the highway, safe and secure.

The Thule Glide and Set system helped to alleviate my worries on how I was going to load my kayak on my 2003 JEEP Liberty. The system is easy to use - even for me at 5'3" - I could slide the kayak on to the supports.

The straps are of good quality with buckle covers to prevent them from scatching your vehicle. The system also includes ratcheting tie downs for the bow and stern of the kayak. These are best used for long trips.

If you are short like me and need a way to get your kayak from point a to point b - I highly recommend the Glide and Set.

So I sold the Silverado and ended up with a gas saving Outlander Sport. I wanted a safe and easy way to transport the kayak as I go 1-3 times a week. This set up is well thought out, easy to use and very secure. The only con is the the lack of locking the holder to the roof rack as it has spin on wing nuts. Other than that it does exactly what it needs to. I like the rubber bumper guards over the metal tie down brackets to save the paint. Like I said well designed, simple and effective. Well worth the investment, I liked it so much I bought 2 so I can get both kayaks to lake quick and easy.

For Mother's Day my boys bought me a kayak. I needed an easier way to put it on my roof rack. The saddles were recommended by a friend. They are very easy to use, perfect for me to use alone and keep the kayak secure. The included straps are great too.

I was struggling with figuring out the best system for me (5ft1) for getting a 24 foot rowing shell on top of a 6 ft truck. The maker of the rowing shell and two dealers all recommended emphatically the "Set to go Saddles" and noted that the hydroglide would make it slide up onto the truck easily without harming the truck. I got my rowing shell yesterday and was AMAZED at how easy it was and HAPPY that I could manage it alone :)

I hope they support the kayak well. I imagined them to have much more surface contact with the kayak and am a little disappointed; the Yakima equivalent is larger.
