This has worked great - it was very easy to put on my factory rack and ready in 5 minutes. Straps are a little bit short when I have two boards stacked on the rack, but still work well. This rack is simple and practical. Have not taken on a long trip yet, but I would trust it on the highway. Two longboards are the max for the length of the straps.

I enjoy this product because it protects the rails of my board from being cinched down too hard like they were with a soft rack system. I carry a 9'4'' on it, and occassionally one other board on top too, but the straps included are too short for any more than a couple longboards (esp. when they are in board bags). These could certainly be easily replaced with a trip down to the hardware store, and I'll admit the short straps are a positive in that their short length prevents them from flapping incessantly at high speed. Adjusting it in the middle of winter is not hard, but not much fun with cold fingers. I think the best use is someone who throws the same board on their car often, and doesn't need to deal with adjusting or worrying about longer straps.
The click-in design (where strap disconnects and connects to rubber) of the system works well, although I was admittedly a bit skeptical at first.
The racks also tend to whistle on my car (Saab), btu this is more of a nuisance which turning up the stereo volume cures with ease.

I have a 4-runner, and the surf carrier fit directly to my factory rack very easily. No extra pads or hardware needed. I have carried the board over hundreds of miles and it is very stable in all conditions.

EMS salesperson told me it would be fine with a single stand up paddleboard. Straps are too short, so I had to rig bungie cords. I called Thule and they said the EMS person should have told me that it was for a surfboard only.

Yes, it fits my Mercury Mariner's factory racks. However the widest adjustment was a fraction of an inch too narrow for a paddle board. For a wider SUV, This might be a good thing.

Great simple rack to get surfboards to and from the beach. Held 2 board securely for a 12 hour drive - much of it at highway speed. Very impressed.

I use the carrier to transport longboards to the Maine coast March through November. The 150 mile trek from Connecticut can encounter tough traffic situations, high winds in the spring and bitter cold temperatures. The Thule carrier has no problem carrying three nine foot boards. I heartily recommend the carrier system which attaches easily to the cross bars of either my SUV or Volvo sedan.

I have a Toyota Sequoia and Highlander, it fit perfectly on both roof rack. That's what they call universal fit, it's really for aany standard roof rack.
