The XK1 is recommended for the 2005 Tacoma. The sales person at the store informed me it was also needed for my 2006 Tacoma. He was correct the literature needs to be updated to reflect that fact.

The Thule Rack Finder returns this item when you enter 06 Tacoma. However, there must be some difference in the model years because in order to use the adapter on an 06 Tacoma you need to modify the Xsporter bracket by removing the rubber gasket that is permanently glued to the underside of the bracket. Not in the instructions and not easy.
