I won't buy this thing. Very cheaply made for what you have to pay. I can buy much heavier-duty hitch pin-locks for $20. Unfortunately I can't use them with the Thule rack since they engineer it so you have to buy their lock. My hitch has two large loops near the receiver itself so I just use one long cable lock to both secure the bikes to the rack and the rack to the hitch.

This lock does a good job of holding my Thule cargo box in the hitch. Using threads to screw the lock makes a snug fit and does not allow any shifting between the cargo box and truck which can get annoying when driving.
The poor design of the lock is how easy it can be hit off the vehicle. The screw is too long leaving the locking device away from the hitch. If someone wanted to hit the lock off, it would not take too much effort and looks like one swing of a hammer could break the device. For the price it should be more secure.

It is easy to install, but then, you would expect (especially when it has "snug" in its' name) it be fixed and snug instead of freely rotating at the end of the bolt. Looks quite flimsy.

My worry was that a thief could easily remove the bike rack with bikes attached and I would lose everything in one event. The lock prevents this from happening and my peace of mind is secured. Thief would need an acetylene cutting torch now.

It gives a great deal of comfort to know that someone isn't going to walk off with my nice Thule hitch-mount bike carrier!

If you have or are getting a hitch mounted Thule Rack, don't forget this Snug-Tight lock to keep your rack from being stolen when you're away from your vehicle or riding the trails. Would prefer Thule include it with the rack, but se la vi. Otherwise very satisfied with Thule's products. Happy Trails.

If you're going to have a $350+ rack, spend the extra money. The lock works fine but for [$] I'm not impressed. Comes with a small wrench to tighten and loosen. I'd be more impressed if there was some sort of integrated ratcheting arm. That would be a 5-star product. Still, it is nice to be able to carry one key for your roof rack, box, hitch lock, and bike mounts.
