I also purchased the wind deflector but it did not fit on the FORD Escape. It did not need it anyway since the factory rack is very low and there is little wind noise.

We use this to carry our two sea kayaks on top of a Pontiac Vibe factory rail with confidence that the rack is secure. The mounting system uses rubber coated metal bands that I'm confident will never break.

Easy to install and comes with locks. Can use with all Thule attachments. Great for canoes and kayaks.

Also purchased 2 kayak carriers. It easily held 2 kayaks.

Only downside is the wind noise when the car is moving. This is with the kayaks and carriers not on the rack.

Two of the four locks on the bars don't work. One won't lock. The other locks, but I can't remove the key in the locked position. Called Thule customer support two days ago, and they still have not responded to my call. Item too expensive for the headaches associated with it.

Solid, strong, and easy to mount to my existing rails. I've carried bikes and kayaks without any problems. I will probably look into getting a faring for it, as the wind noise tends to be annoying on the highway. MPG takes a hit too but I've not measured yet.

We purchased these for our Jeep to transport a canoe. They were easy to install, and are solidly constructed. Having tried them on a couple of weeks, we have just three complaints: 1.) the high cost (even with EMS's great price); 2.) the excessive wind noise that now accompanies us everywhere; and 3.) the bars are just too wide enough so as not to accommodate standard strapping hooks. We dislike the idea of spending even more money for a Thule wind deflector to cut the noise and special Thule straps to secure the canoe, but this now means removing the bars every time we're done canoeing to get rid of the wind noise, and we now have to find another strapping alternative.

Easy to use, install. Using it on a 2010 Forester with factory side rails. Bought this over the Yakima system because there are reports that it doesn't fit as well with the Forester side rails. Seems like the Thule would fit any car with side rails because of the wrap around stap. Nice that this kit comes with locks and four keys. Have noticed minimal highway wind noise.

These racks look good and work good. Easy to assemble and install. If you had a screw gun with the proper tip on it you take these racks on and off the car on an as needed basis very easily.

The downside is they increase the noise level in the car significantly due to of the range of noises that emanate from the rack and the speeds at which they are produced.

Get the fairing to direct the wind over these racks.

Installation was very easy. It's very secure on the vehicle. My only complaint is the wind noise at higher speeds. I may need to invest in the fairing. But, other than that, I'm very happy with the product and with EMS's service.
