Beware of the fairing guide on the Thule site. If you have 50" bars a 38" fairing is 10" too small. Go with the 873XT.

Having bought a new car I decided to put a new fairing on it. It was interesting to find a new design and look for the fairing but I was disappointed to see that for my car (09 Subaru Forester) the fairing recommended was so short and small for the roof width. Also, with the myriad accessories I put on the bars, the FOUR connections (as opposed to three with the old fairing) made it very tricky to mount everything to fit my gear right. I may have to buy longer bars at this point but should need to. Also, there is little to no adjustment of the fairing to meet the curvature of the roofline. The old fairing was able to be shaped very easily to meet any roofline shape.

I read the one comment about how the fairing was held together by "plastic push things" and was a little concerned of the guality. Knowing Thule makes good guality products and since so many people have the fairings I ordered it anyway. Went to the store to pick it up. I was surprised on how many parts there are to put it together but it's a no brainer that goes together quick. I had it together and on the car in less than 20 min. For the "plastic push things", they are actually really beefy durable push snaps that hold the thick platic fairing securely to the four legs. The only way those snaps would break is if you smashed them several times with a heavy hammer. The rest of the fairing is held by large durable plastic clamps that uses a heavy metal square head bolt along with a top quality 3-wing knob to tighten the clamp securing it to the bar. I listened to the other comments and measured my car before I ordered and Thule recmd. the right size. I only stress how durable this product is because the one comment almost swayed me not to buy it. I think that person was expecting the whole fairing to be made of solid steel or something-it's not but it's pretty close. So glad I didn't listen to that comment. Buy the fairing with confidence, it's a great product. Plus it looks great too. Can't wait to start smearing stickers all over it.

Some of the assebley was diffacult, but for the most part not bad. The farring was a little expensive for what it is but if deffinatly makes the ride quiet.

It reduced the wind noise quite a bit and it looks really good on the car.

Typical Thule quality that comes with a price. Reduces, does not elimninate wind noise. All in all though it is much, much quieter with it than without.

Bought this because I had read online that it reduces noise, which it did. I was stoked because my roof rack howled really loud prior to purchasing the fairing. Also, it looks pretty neat.

Ordered the fairing along with the crossbar kit for a 2010 Subaru Forester based on reviews of how noisy the crossbars are without it. Did not find that to be true, the noise is non-existent to minimal at most speeds and never more annoying than studded snow tires. Never took it out of the box, returned it.
