MSR PocketRocket Stove
A mountaineering marvel, the lightweight, incredibly compact PocketRocket stove from Mountain Safety Research is super easy to use. Just screw on an MSR isopropane canister (sold separately) to the stove, turn on the valve and light the match. No priming of the Pocket Rocket is required!Features/Benefits:

I have used my pocket rocket on multi-day trips in the White Mountains and along the Appalachian Trail. This little piece of equipment has performed flawlessly allowing me to have hot meals while in the back country. This inexpensive piece of equipment is small, lightweight, and very economical with fuel. Unless you're doing a thru-hike and do not have access to the fuel, this stove is a must buy!

Like it for its ease of use (don't have to mess with fuel lines and priming with more complex stove like the whisperlite) and its compactness. Will likely be stable enough for most pots you'd bring with you as long as you find a stable surface for it....just remember that IsoPropane canisters are not available overseas - hence its a great USA stove for local lightweight and easy camping.

Haven't taken it on the trail yet but looks to be a great little stove, burns hot and fast with good temp control. Tried a number of dishes on the kitchen counter from boiling water to omelets. The one down side is that the pot supports slope downward so that you only have point contact rather than and flat support. This causes very small pans to slide around.
I'm taking to Mt.Washington this week end.

Pros: Fantastic lightweight stove and great value. Very stable used with a large fuel canister. Simmers very well but can go through fuel quickly at highest setting (due to powerful output)... so adjust according to needs.
Cons: Wind resistance could be better but is on par with other similar designs. Also one nitpick ... it is sure hard to pull than dang top of the case especially in cold weather. But none of the above is a deal breaker. Buy it at EMS and you will not be disappointed.

I use this stove with a one liter kettle to brew up hot water for drinks, soup, breakfast cereal. It is extremely fast at high altitude 2500-3000 meters and time saving. It's great in wilderness areas with a 50+ lb pack for extended periods, or inclement weather. The weight of the stove, case and gas cylinder is nominal in relation to value.

Used it on a 3 day backpack in Allegehney Forest with great results. Lit right up, boiled water in minutes and had good temp control to keep things warm. Used a butane lighter to start it and it worked great. Made all of my meals on it. Be careful where you set it as it can be a little tipsy if you don't have a hard surface to put it on. That's only a small compramise in my oppinion.

I just used this stove on a week long kayak trip down the Soca River. This stove was perfect for the trip. Its very compact and I never had a problem lighting this at anytime. The temperature control was great on it and it gets ridiculously hot very quickly. For the price you can not beat this product. Not sure how well it would function in high altitude but it was really windy and rainy on one of the beaches we stopped at for lunch and when we had trouble lighting a real fire this stove shot right up.
