Comments about MSR Reactor Cook System:
I just got back from a Rainier trip. I've always used white gas for winter exped and anything above 8,000ft but this stove caught my eye when it came out. The liter pot is great. Being able to melt ice 1 nalgene at a time is reason alone to buy this above a Jetboil. the clear lid is also nice. My friend's Jetboil kept going out but my Reactor never did. It melts and boils quick. I'm sold on this product. One word of caution for you backcountry gourmet chefs: This stove has an all or nothing flame. I wouldnt try simmering. This guy is best suited for melting glacier into water and rehydrating meals.

Comments about MSR Reactor Cook System:
If all you want to do is boil water, you have to look hard at this stove. For that, it is awesome.
It takes no time to set up (from pack to full flame in under a minute), and they aren't kidding about the fast boil times. About two weeks ago I boiled a liter of cold water (both the water and air temp were 42 degrees) in under 3 minutes.
That said, it is so hot, I don't think I'd try cooking anything in it. Mine didn't come with an ignitor (not a big problem, I always have a lighter with me).
It's not ultra-light, but when you consider the massively increased fuel efficiency, it could well be lighter than any other option. Much depends on how many you cook for (one stove could easily service 4 people) and how long you tend to go out for. Do the math before passing on this one for weight reasons.

Comments about MSR Reactor Cook System:
This stove has yet to disappoint me. Since I've bought it I have been on a three week trip. It easily out preformed my comrade's Jetboil system. Though his accessories such as the coffee press were a nice addition. Can't wait to get to some higher altitude and test this puppy out. Plus I have not made my way into snow covered territory with it yet but plan on making a winter trek as soon as I can. I have read that it melts snow like champ but have yet to testify that it does from my personal experience.

Comments about MSR Reactor Cook System:
Worked well on a 3 day backpacking trip. Super fast boil, we used it mainly to boil water for re-hydrating food. Cooked in it once and found it was a bit difficult to clean due to a ridge inside of the pot. Can be used as a heat source if you are cooking in another pan and that way you can control the heat more effectively.

Comments about MSR Reactor Cook System:
Don't get too comfortable waiting for the water to boil. This stove is by far the fastest I have ever used...bar none. If your goal is to boil water, look no further.

Comments about MSR Reactor Cook System:
I bought the MSR Reactor after a winter backpacking trip to the top of a cold, windy mountain. My reliable, compact SnowPeak stove wouldn't work. I bought the Reactor so I wouldn't have to put up with cold soup and iced chocolate. The trade-off of a slightly bulkier stove/pot for for the high reliability was worth it.
