Comments about Byer Of Maine BYER Moskito Hammock:
I purchased this hammock as a lighter alternative to the more complicated one I have.Upon reciept I noticed that you needed the ropes that are sold seperatly , I also noticed that the hammock is put together well and its all in a neat small little package.I was a Marine for 13 and a half years so thats where I get my experience.I have high grade climbing rope so I cut two sections and made tree huggers until the micro ropes arrived (good purchase too). The hammock was very easy to put up and the included bug net suspension line was nice to have, this could be substituted with paracord or any other string or cord though.I slept in the hammock the first night and was very happy with it , the only let down is that its not double layerd so a sleeping pad and a poncho liner had to be in there with me and bugs will bite you through the backing , the hammock didnt feel closed in and stayed where I hung it ,it doesnt come with a tarp or canopy so youll need a poncho or buy one from EMS , they have several great canopys at reasonable prices.I am very happy with this buy , I was looking for a mosquito hammock that was light and small to pack for a survival rig , I got just what I was after. Now about EMS , I have never in doing buisnes over the net found more helpful and professional folks , customer service was above and beyond the call of duty [...]!!I would recommend them and have already , I will definitly be spending my money here from now on , one look at the website well..whats not to love?If you want a hammock that will fit into a bdu pocket and customer service not rivaled by anyone shop with EMS you wont regret it.

Comments about Byer Of Maine BYER Moskito Hammock:
I'm 6 feet tall, slim, and never slept in a hammock before. Bought this as an experiment the day before a kayak camping trip since it was on sale and not expensive. Directions recommend sleeping diagonally for best comfort. Did that, and liked it a lot! Used with a sleeping bag. Had to be careful to keep my head away from netting to avoid bug bites; used a dense foam kneeling pad (as for gardening) extended out from under my shoulder blades to keep the netting away from my head. Inner pockets on netting were useful only for small lightweight objects (ex. Photon flashlight). The edges where netting meets nylon seemed to form length-wise "pockets", so used those areas to store extra clothes and boots (clean) out of the way. Netting tended to sag inward more than I'd prefer, but expect I can improvise some way to improve on that. My big toes remained just a little cold all night, but didn't keep me awake; may be my own circulation problem (feet slightly above heart). Used it under a tarp and appreciated being able to wake up and easily see the lake, moon, and immediate surroundings. Liked it so much, used in the backyard for afternoon nap too. Folds into small bag with room for Byer MicroRopes. Definitely going with me next time! NOTE: To keep cords tangle-free, group together and tie into a large slipknot...

Used this hammock for a motorcycle trip through the White Mountains and into Maine. Pack down small and easily fits when space is needed. Able to sleep between any 2 trees and not have to worry about roots or debris on the gorund. I put my thermarest in it and used a sleeping bag and slept all nite perfectly fine. My back is fussy and I awoke with no tightness or stiffness! the bug screen is a major plus. Again for the size you cannot beat the comfort and versatility!

Comments about Byer Of Maine BYER Moskito Hammock:
The beyer mosquito hammock is a great escape. It improves and perfects on the one drawback of the plain parachute hammock. Bugs! Find two trees about nine feet apart and you have bug free heavan. Its also great for day hikes with a siesta in between and I have slept in the plain parachute hammock, with a 8 by 10 tarp stung overhead and a ridge rest and sleeping bag it makes a great off the ground shelter.

Comments about Byer Of Maine BYER Moskito Hammock:
Got to use this hammock on a real trip for the first time this past weekend. Set up was a breeze. Along with the ropes, I would have to say that next to food/meal equipment, this was the most valuable item in my pack. Since I only weigh 112lbs, it was so nice not to have the weight of a tent! I was concerned about the netting not being sturdy, but it turned out to be quite strong. I'm looking forward to using it many more times.

Comments about Byer Of Maine BYER Moskito Hammock:
Got this hammock a few years ago to put up here in New England (bug heaven!) It's HUGE and very comfortable, but I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the bug netting can sag in "the acroos direction" and rest against your body, thus allowing bugs to still bite. I made a small pole to go across the netting and problem solved(there are pockets for each end in the netting...hmmmmm)
I'm buying another soon for out cabin in the Adirondacks!

It feels cheap, but I think that's just the lightweight fabric. Used it for a week backpacking trip and I have no complaints. Well worth the price.

Comments about Byer Of Maine BYER Moskito Hammock:
First hammock and not disappointed with their comfort level. Love the fact that I don't have to carry a tent when I go camping now and can use this more comfortable, lightweight alternative. The one I received was different then the one shown in the picture. The mosquito net is black not white as shown (IMO looks better then white).
One major complain is that when you first get the hammock unknotting the two ends of the hammock will be a pain. To prevent this in the future I remember someone saying on a review that he solves the problem by packing the strings on the hammock at the end before rolling it into the sack.

Comments about Byer Of Maine BYER Moskito Hammock:
This product is excellent, and compared to more expensive similar products it is a steal! I've been backpacking for years, and have always been a tent person until my last trip when I first used this hammock. Slept like a baby - no roots or rocks jabbing me in the ribs or hips!! Keep in mind you will need a sleeping pad or insulation of sorts beneath you in cooler temps.

At this point in time the hammock is set up in my living room from my post and beam constriction. I can not wait to use it outdoors and put the mosquito net to use in the evening. I have all sort on confidence in this product it is comfortable and well made.Get the Micro rope by Byer great for easy set up and take down.
