Comments about BUCK KNIVES Parallex Knife:

I have had two of these and just bought a third and fourth. They didn't break, I just have a poor habit of setting things down. I am in agriculture and this knife is always in my pocket. It get's daily use.

I do a lot of animal slaughter/butcher and I find this to be an excellent knife. It takes and holds a very good edge and is a strong blade. I use it a lot for disjointing or hacking through cartiledge. Tasks that I might use a lot of force that I wouldn't want to apply to a thinner blade. The serrations are great in those situations.

The only drawback is the handle is a little small for my hands (XL glove). It would be perfect if it were an inch longer.

I find it to have smooth action. Unlike other commenters, I have no problem opening and closing this knife with one hand. Any initial stiffness works out with use. The tight tolerances give the knife a solid feel as a unit. It has a good positive lock that will not slip under pressure. I like the design of the lockback, no extra parts, everthing is integrated into the blade and the handle shells. I also like that the blade doesn't rest against anything while closed and any debris simply falls through.

Despite the negative comments, i think this knife was a great buy, its a good quality blade, and although the joint is a bit stiff, it will loosen with oiling and wear.

Comments about BUCK KNIVES Parallex Knife:

Have had the knife for 6mo. Used mostly for hiking and hunting. Not the greatest knife, but works fine for me. I can see how you could hurt yourself when closing the knife. I haven't had any problems...yet. I think [$]is a fair price.

Comments about BUCK KNIVES Parallex Knife:

This knife is hard to open, but a little lubricant would most likely solve this. The real problem is closing it. To do this you need one hand to push open the frame of the knife and one to shut the blade. Slip a little and you may end up cutting yourself.

Comments about BUCK KNIVES Parallex Knife:

For the price, this knife lacks quality. I was displeased with how difficult it was to open and close; the bearings are stiff the locking mechanism is poorly designed. For a few dollars more, Gerber offers much better quality and craftsmanship.
