PETZL Pirana Descender
The Petzl Pirana Descender has three braking positions designed for use with canyoneering descent techniques.Features/Benefits:
- Choose from three braking positions depending on the user weight, the rope diameter, and terrain
- Two supplementary braking spurs allow friction to be increased during descent
- Carabiner with cross section of 12 mm (like an ATTACHE) provides a tight fit in the small hole, creating a rigid carabiner/descender unit
- Stays securely attached to the harness during rope insertion to help prevent loss
- Greatly reduces the risk of leverage on the carabiner gate (poor positioning)
- Designed to be used with the "rapid" technique
- Designed for use on single ropes 8 to 13 mm
- Can be used on some double ropes (braking positions depend on diameter)
- Use with a locking carabiner with a 12 mm cross section (ATTACHE or WILLIAM)

Small but fast, you can't go wrong with this. I use mine any chance I get and its amazing. Even double rope rappeling with this is fun as long as you have the weight for it.

Best Uses
- Descending tying off

Comments about PETZL Pirana Descender:
Great descender from Petzl. Lot's of options for stopping or tying off on the way down or belaying. Make sure, if you purchase, that you also have a smaller diameter carabiner to attach to it ( such as a PETZL Attache Carabiner). The hole and rubber buffer is small and just won't accept any carabiner for use.
