Comments about BACKPACKER'S PANTRY Louisiana Beans & Rice:
I can't tell you how pleasantly surprised my father and I were when we 'cooked' up our squashed package of Louisiana Red Beans & Rice by Backpacker's Pantry. We wondered if it was just the result of being in the wilderness of the Smoky Mountains that led to our taste bud ecstacy, but the next few days' meals put an end to that hypothesis. It was really that good. Our 4th night's meal was the subject of many a conversation for the rest of the trip. Not to mention the constant praise during the actual meal. No one could have done a better commercial than us that night.
Now of course, taste is not necessarily objective; so maybe you will read this, try it out, and then curse my screen name in some far away forest. I can only speak for my Dad and I, who certainly don't usually eat spicy beans and rice, but man it was good. So if you're from 'down south' and think this stuff is garbage, please send me some of YOUR beans and rice. Seriously, I must have it.
Oh and after you finish the meal, it would be wise to stay back from the camp fire and open all tent flaps. Trust me.

Comments about BACKPACKER'S PANTRY Louisiana Beans & Rice:
This was a staple meal for me on a 3 week long trip high in the mountains. It was tasty and I could eat it almost every day without getting tired of it. I added dehydrated vegetables to it to add more variety and that was good too.
For those with concerns over gluten content; It never once triggered my Celiac disease.

This is the first dehydrated backpacking food I've tried. It was very easy to prepare, just add boiling water, stir, and wait 13 minutes. It's very tasty, spicy and filling, but does have a potent finish.

2 Good-sized portions of a very nice veggie entree. Spicy and easy to fix. I get this one with every batch of backpacking food I buy.
