Comments about MOUNTAIN HOUSE Scrambled Eggs with Bacon:

To start off with the good....Mountain House is great because it is light weight and is very easy to prepare.......just add boiling water and wait....which is key for winter camping. I do like Mountain House even though I try to bring regular store/home food like instant mashed potatoes and stufing but like I said Mountain house is no fuss which is why I love it for winter camping out in the backcountry. This bacon and eggs breakfast one is one you want to stay away from and don't say I didn't warn you. The smell is absolutely horrible, the eggs have a texture of wet styrofoam....it is just not good. it's been 5 years since I've eaten this stuff while out camping in the high peaks of the Adirondacks and when I think of this stuff it still makes me want to gag and I am the least fussy eater ever!!!!!! There is many great Mountain House meals but this is not one of them!!!

Comments about MOUNTAIN HOUSE Scrambled Eggs with Bacon:

I agree w/ Yetti (2/8/12), I found the eggs to be a bit spongy and lacking in flavor.

I'm in the middle of preparing for a 10 day overnight and have spent the last couple of nights testing a few dehydrated/freeze-dried meals... breakfast in particular. And thou I hoped MH Scrambled Eggs would be more than agreeable, seeing that I found BP's Denver Omlette surprisingly good, I was a bit disappointed in the product. My hopes largely rested on a few facts: MH freeze-dried meals are often tasty, and there would be no cooking (a big con of the BP breakfast). What I found instead was square freeze-dried eggs that floated on boiling water, eggs that once prepared were a bit too unlike the I eggs I eat most mornings (unlike the BP breakfast).

I will say this thou... that as bland as I found them to be, even after scrambling them with catsup and hot sauce, I wouldn't be unopposed to recommending them to those who "must" have eggs in the morning and "greatly prefer" little to no clean-up, provided they understand that the drawbacks.

As for me, I'm debating the pros and cons of carrying a super lightweight fry pan.

I never thought I'd see the day when my wife liked a bug-out meal more than me! She loved it! I made the mistake of adding salt before tasting (big mistake & I can eat pretzels 'til they're coming out of my ears!) My recommendation keep some hot sauce handy for this one; my wife's - straight up! Give it a 4.5 all day every day.

What's better than bacon in the morning? Nothing really. Bacon is awesome just by itself. If you happen to also like eggs with your bacon, then this is the meal for you.

Add a little salt and pepper to taste.

This was a solid breakfast choice. It doesn't taste like your own bacon and eggs but it's still a nice treat on a hike.

If you like eggs for breakfast, this is the best thing out there, unless you prefer bringing real eggs to your camp. For the best taste, do try put a bit less water than recommended.

I thought this was really tasty, but obviously taste is a personal thing...so it's up to you. I enjoyed the taste of bacon with the eggs. Try draining any excess water before eating it too, that may help with the texture.
