    The shaft is very slippery with synthetic gloves and NEEDS a leash. I ordered mine a bit short, so be sure to order the correct length and save on some back pains during your ascent! This tool works great for self arresting and glisading. I used this tool up and down both Mt. St. Helens (8,365') and South Sister (10,363') in the Cascades and it worked great!
