Comments about OMEGA PACIFIC Steel Locking D Carabiner:
I bought a couple of these carabiners after the aluminum ones I used for top rope anchor master points became too worn. So far, I have used these Omega Steel carabiners for twice as long, and there is still next to no wear. Since steel is much much harder of a metal than aluminum, they wear at an extremely different rate. However, I wouldn't carry more than two for an anchor, because they're heavy.

These are used to tether a 90,000 ft3 hot air balloon. They connect the ground lines to the balloon top and bottom lines and allow the connection to move.

Comments about OMEGA PACIFIC Steel Locking D Carabiner:
Wow, just wow. Amazing! My number ONE belay crab!
It feels really heavy, a good heavy, strong and durable heavy. Honestly, Ive been through countless crabs, and this ones love on sight!
-Grip on the gate is excellent, i could douse my hands in oil and still be able to easily open the screw-lock on the gate, even if it was over tightened!
-Plenty of room, crabs fairly large, good sized opening.
Small con though, like the other reviews mentioned, the paint does come off... I always find my hands blackened with the paint rub off after belaying. But ... unless you obsess over the appearance of your gear (rather than the performance), its nothing to fret over!
This crab is now the only one i use for any belaying, Omega has me for life. I would HIGHLY recommend this crab!

Comments about OMEGA PACIFIC Steel Locking D Carabiner:
This carabiner is as good as it gets. It is heavy and solid and provides a link in the chain that one need not worry about. I like that it requires active intention to secure it rather than auto-lock, though this might be a minus to others. The coating wears somewhat quickly where stress is applied but this doesn't affect the performance.
Pros
- Simple
- Strong
Cons
- Heavy but well worth it
- Scratches easily
Best Uses

Comments about OMEGA PACIFIC Steel Locking D Carabiner:
This has to be one of the strongest carabiners I've ever used. I was surprised at how heavy it is but with a rated strength of 65kN I never doubt it. The black coat does scratch VERY easily, but I personally don't care about the scratches. Very good buy IMHO.
Pros
- Quick to open
Cons
- Black scratches
