Comments about COLORADO CUSTOM HARDWARE Alien Cams:
The yellow 3/4 is the perfect size to bridge the gap between the BD C3's and the 0.5 BD C4. The narrow head makes it way better than the 0.4 BD C4.

- Small head
- Smooth action
Cons
- Short range
- Small for some hands

Comments about COLORADO CUSTOM HARDWARE Alien Cams:
Despite the resent bad rep, I still love aliens. The heads are smaller than most cams and they slide easily into pockets and short parallel cracks better than most other cams. Their highly flexible stem allows for horizontal placements and less strain on the cam with meandering routes. Aliens can umbrella and don't have as wide a range as some cams. They can also be less comfortable for people with larger hands to operate. I've taken a few good falls on some of my aliens and trust them as much as any cam. I've been on a few routes where they were the only gear that would fit and safely stay in a pocket. The black is small to be useful all the time, but I've found places where I was glad I had it.

Cons

Comments about COLORADO CUSTOM HARDWARE Alien Cams:
This is good stuff. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I haven't actually put it to use on the rock yet. I intend to use it for some of the thinner cracks that are out there. I really like how smoothly it operates. Also, the large wire loop will make it easy to clip into, and hopfully easier to remove from deep placements. I like it!!
Pros
- Simple
- Stays where you put it
Cons
- Can't be used wide open
Best Uses
- Long Climbs

Comments about COLORADO CUSTOM HARDWARE Alien Cams:
I've used active pro primarily in the 'Gunks and Red Rocks. The feature that separates CCH Aliens from other active gear is how well they stay put once you place them. You don't have to worry about them wiggling out of a crack or walking so far in that they can't be recovered. It's really nice for peace of mind.

Comments about COLORADO CUSTOM HARDWARE Alien Cams:
In my opinion aliens (in particular the green, yellow and red) offer some of the best protection in their size range. Their narrow profile allows it to fit where other cams cannot and their holding power is amazing. I recommend any trad climber have at least these three sizes as part of their rack.

- Lightweight
- Rugged

Comments about COLORADO CUSTOM HARDWARE Alien Cams:
These placements are great for shallow parallel cracks on some of those higher grade climbs with few placements. A must have for at least the yellow, green and blue sizes to round out the bottom set of your cams. Great flexible short spine so you aren't weighting on the cams neck - which would possible cause it to blow out. I would always like to see the kn rating higher on any pro placements, but these weigh in at 9kn on the three I described above, capable of catching you on a nasty whipper.
Pros
- Best made small cams
- Rugged
Cons
- Hard to find

Comments about COLORADO CUSTOM HARDWARE Alien Cams:
Aliens totally rock! I feel more confident with Alien placements than any other piece on my rack. They won't leverage out of shallow placements and will hold as big a whipper as you want to take.
Pros
- Lightweight
- Rugged
- Weather Resistant
Cons
Best Uses
- Hard trad climbing
Comments about COLORADO CUSTOM HARDWARE Alien Cams:
I've had the black through red alien set for many years, doubles of some. When I lost the green alien to a hungry crack, I came home and bought a replacement that night. When climbing thin 5.10 or 5.11, the green alien always seems to be the piece of gear at the crux. I've used many other cams as well and will always choose the alien.
