Comments about YAKTRAX Walker Traction Device:
I have purchased multiple pairs of these (more on that later) for myself and my wife. We walk our 2 German Shepherds, no matter what the conditions, and these devices prevent falls very effectively, WHILE they last.
The problem, inherent to the design, is that the metal coil exoskeleton sorrounding the flexible plastic material tends to collapse onto the material, effectively pinching, weakening, and eventually severing the plastic. This is a function of several factors: user weight, use on icy surface vs use on bare concrete or asphalt vs use on softer surfaces. Ideally these should only be used on icy or snowy surfaces, but in the real world, surfaces vary on any given walk and it is impractical to take these off on a hard surface that is unyielding, then put them back on a few feet later. Weight contributes to the rate of collapse, but collapse is inevitable. If you are above 200 pounds, expect these to last about a winter, maybe two. I am switching to a differently designed footwear traction device, which I hope will not fail as quickly or as reliably as this one.

Comments about YAKTRAX Walker Traction Device:
It is alot better than using my dog as an anchor when we are out walking the icy paths. Make sure you pull them up higher than in the images and they will stay on. I can actually out run my dog on the ice now and feel stable. Great product for the cost and very compact and fexible. I even have a set in the car.

Comments about YAKTRAX Walker Traction Device:
These things are great. Walk across a sheet of ice as if you're wearing golf spikes on wood. The only downside is that you have to remember to put them on when you need them. Also they are slick if you walk on tile- remember to take them off before you go in the store/ walk on tile.

Comments about YAKTRAX Walker Traction Device:
They are ok in snow, on ice they are useless, especially snow covered ice, if walking in the woods they collect pine needles which makes them a real hazard. thust me on this, mine are going back to EMS for a refund.

Comments about YAKTRAX Walker Traction Device:
I walk multiple dogs off lead in the woods all winter and have used YakTrax for several years when I run into ice. The only danger is with ice-covered rocks and roots, especially when not moving carefully. Because they go on so easily, I can pack them until I think I need them. Easy on and off does mean they can come off during walk, but the bright colors (my preference is orange) help me to find them most of the time.

Comments about YAKTRAX Walker Traction Device:
This product works wonders in improving traction on ice. All sense on instability is gone once you put them on. The only fault I see with them is that they do not last for very long (1 season at best). The rubber that runs through the coils inevitably snaps, but what can you expect when you are basically walking on rubber bands with springs on them. They are a good product, but you will end up buying more than one set of them.

Comments about YAKTRAX Walker Traction Device:
I first purchased Yaktrax as a gift for my mom. She's 66 and an avid walker, but was diagnosed with osteoporosis and was worried about slipping in the winter -- but really missed her walks! The Yaktrax gave her fabulous traction and now she doesn't worry about a little snow or ice -- she walks with confidence!
I've since purchased them as gifts for tons of people and they love them -- and for myself. My husband is a marathon runner and the Yaktrax enable him to maintain his winter training schedule. And I own them too. We live in CT on a hill, and the Yaktrax hold even when you're walking down a slippery driveway, shoveling snow, or whatever.
My mom now keeps a pair in the house for regular use, plus one in the car for emergencies!

Comments about YAKTRAX Walker Traction Device:
I walk dogs for a living, and these are incredible for in the winter. I wore them all of last winter (and plan to again this winter) and didn't slip/fall once while walking dogs out in the snowy, icy weather. The only thing I would recommend is not to wear them inside except on carpet. They may scratch wood or tile flooring.
