KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots
Designed for winter hiking, the Koflach Degre Plastic Boots are compatible with Randonee ski bindings and nearly every kind of crampon and snowshoe. With greater flex and rocker than the typical plastic boot, the Degre is well suited for general mountaineering. Rated to -30°F.Features/Benefits:
- Dual-density polyurethane "Y" technology; soft plastic uppers retain their supple flex even in sub-zero temperatures, while the lowers utilizes a stiffer plastic to ensure a steady platform
- Shank is less rigid than the Koflach Arctis Expe, but still stiff enough for technical terrain and use with rigid crampons
- Slight flex that is built into the shell, combined with the sole's rocker, allows for greater walking comfort
- A layer of synthetic cork is used in the shell's sole for additional insulation and shock absorbency; EVA heel plug further helps to dissipate shock
- Special Vibram winter climbing configuration for improved performance in snow
- Fully lace-removable inner boot made from both open- and closed-cell foam to maximize insulation while blocking out moisture; accommodates all foot volumes and shapes
- Inner boot features thermo-formable heel and ankle padding (adapted from Atomic's alpine ski boots) and high-loft fleece to allow for a better performance fit, reduced heel lift, and increased comfort
- Inner boot can be worn inside a tent or within a sleeping bag in expedition conditions

Comments about KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots:
I rented these for my first mountaineering experience summiting Mt Washington. My feet never got cold once. They are heavy but it's kinds of needed. They are somewhat stiff which I'm convinced probably saved me from breaking my ankle a couple of times so it's a fair trade. The only time I was uncomfortable was walking down hill, got a mild blister. The pull out liners allow you to dry them if need be and keep them from freezing in your sleeping bag at night which is a definite for multi night trips. I will use them again.

Comments about KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots:
I used these boots for ice climbing and mountianeering above the snowline on Mt. Elbrus and several other mountains in the Caucaus Mountains in Western Russia. My feet were never cold and never got wet. They fit well with Grivel G-14 crampons (also recommended). One day I had them on for over 18 hours. They can be unforgiving on the way down (black toenails), but better than the alternative (frozen toenails).

Comments about KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots:
I have been a Koflach customer since the 1980's when I purchased my 1st pair of Koflachs. Always have had good luck with their products. Their boots fit well, are super warm, completely waterproof, and have rigid soles which work best for technical ice climbing (which is what I purchased them for) and/or mountaineering / alpine style climbing. I can find nothing negative about these boots and highly recommend them. The quality is impeccable. I know many technical boot manufacturers are offering leather models now as well - but I didn't want anything but 100% plastic. Great boots - and even better - I got mine while on sale! BUY THEM! You won't be sorry!

Comments about KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots:
I used a rented pair one year ago when did Mountaineering 3-day course at EMS Schools. This year I decided to buy my own because I was satisfied with them. I will have this year a few winter backpacking trips, mountain hiking and ice climbing, and in the summer climbing Mt. Rainier. I will put them at heavy work.

Comments about KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots:
This is a great boot for mountaineering or even a hike in cold weather. I bought these boots and in my first use climbed Mt Washington in the winter. They had great traction on the mountain, going up and down. Didn't need any break-in time for the boot. Was warm when I was even below freezing aned the summit. A great boot at a great value.

Comments about KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots:
The Degre is a classic mountainnering boot! Koflach has been making these forever and haven't changed the design much since.
I love mine! I bought them from a friend and I have absolutely no complaints, other than what was mentionned, namely the stiffness on descents. I have used them on mountaineering and ice climbing trips and they perform great.
I wear US 8.5 and these are UK 8.5, so about a size larger, but they are great with an insole and a good pair of mountaineering socks over a liner.
I don'T think I'll be changing boots for a good while!

Comments about KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots:
This is the standard boot for snowmaking in New England. Handles ice snow and stream crossing. very water proof, only thing I would change is the liner as feet get wet from presperation after a 12 hour shift on mountian, other wise a very reliable boot

Comments about KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots:
I had been thinking of buying these on the recommendation of a more experienced winter-hiking friend, then I managed to score a pair of these boots on a [...] sale, but would have been happy with them at full price.I told the sales clerk I normally wear 11s, so she brought out 11s and opened a brand new pair of smart-wool socks for me to use, and they fit like a proverbial glove! I walked around the store for about 10 minutes, tried the ramp, and so bought them. Once out in the New Hampshire winter of 2007, I put some miles on them and they were warm and comfortable. I love using the liners for extra sleeping warmth. Great deal!

Comments about KOFLACH Degre Plastic Boots:
Lighter than I expected. Very warm with mid weight socks. I had to add an insert under the removable booty to add cushion an better fit.
The first time out had trouble with my heel slipping, but the insert and snuging the boot better substantilly lessened heel movement. Like downhill ski boots you notice some soreness around upper ankle after a full days use.
