I bought this for my daughter that is deaf, I know that sound funny but with the right APP for my Itouch she can talk to people at stores and resturants without me having to interpet for her. It has given her independance.

We use the iMaingo for our daughter, who has severe Down's syndrome, so that she can use Proloquo2Go with her iPod Touch and have more and clearer volume/sound. It is a little clumsy in that we have to remove the iPod completely from the case to charge it or sync it. It would be nice if the designers would allow a little extra room at the bottom so that the plug could be used while the iPod was still fastened into the case. We were also surprised that it did not have a rechargeable battery and doesn't use rechargeable batteries - that it eats alkaline batteries every 30 hours of use - and that was a negative for us, considering our frequent usage. Another negative for us was that at times we did hear some static at both low and high volumes when we played music through the speakers. With speech, however, it has not been static-y at all, and we are pleased with that - it has good clarity and volume with speech. We also like the fact that the case is good protection for the iPod and is easy for our daughter to use. We did not have to cut the protective screen out - the iPod is plenty responsive through it. We added our own shoulder strap with clips to the D-ring.

We bought this for my son with autism. He uses the app Proloque2go for communication. It is loud enough for the people around him to hear it. I only wish that there was a strap so that he could carry it around his neck. He has poor hand muscle strength so it is difficult for him to hold it and use it at the same time. He can use it at his desk or table with no problem. We looked long and hard for something that would protect the ipod touch as well as give the speech output more volume. This was by far the best product we came across.

If you added external power source for indoor use and it could also charge my iPod it would be totally awesome. Good sound, 4 aaa batteries last about 30 hours iPod needs to be recharged out of the case.
GREAT for outdoor use on construction site or doing yard work. We can have music where ever we go.

We took this out on boat and on beach was great way to portably play ipods out loud. The outer speaker face plastic isn't very robust. It came off after day or two.[...]

Primary use is a case/speaker for an ipod for our non verbal son to use as a assistive speech device. The case is sturdy and screen of the ipod easy to access. The sound is great. One drawback, The speakers have to be manually turned off by opening the case. It would be helpful if the green "on" indicator light was on the outside of the case (also the on/off button), so I could do a quick visual and not waste batteries. Good, cheap alternative for our purposes.

I use the iMainGo2 portable speaker to play back bird sounds in the field. This is the only portable speaker that allows me to manage files on my iPod and playback sounds with one hand. The only drawback is that the volume is less than some of its competitors. Having said that, the volume that it produces is usually adequate and is in full fidelity. The portable speakers that have greater volume also lack decent fidelity at any volume or they are too large to handle comfortably in the field. (It appears that the birds do not care much about fidelity, but I do.) Since this speaker is designed to play music rather than sounds in the field, please take my comment regarding volume as an observation rather than as a complaint.

Great prodcut to bring camping, to the beach, or hiking. It is well priced and worth every penny.

Iuse it for birding. It protects my Ipod, and has good sound. But it has been some what unreliable. One I returned had Static and another lost it's volume.
