Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Deluge Rain Jacket:

I took this jacket on a long-distance (140 miles) walking holiday in France. On a day when we walked through heavy rain during a 10-mile, five hour hike, the jacket kept me dry and comfortable.
I always carried the jacket with me so that on fine days when it lived in my backpack, it was important to me that it was so lightweight.

Not so great - when my hands are cold and wet I still have trouble fastening and unfastening the hood.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Deluge Rain Jacket:

I wanted to love this jacket. I bought it before I moved to Dublin, knowing I'd be in store for some rainy weather. Initially the jacket was fine. I've had difficulty getting the darn thing to zip since day one, but figured once I got it broken in, that would fix itself, unfortunately this is not the case. I still fight to zip it. Also, after only a month of wear the pocket ripped on the outside, so now the pocket gets wet. Also, during the last rain storm my right sleeve got completely soaked through. Maybe this jacket just isn't for constant use, but I've had it for less than 6 months. I will say that I do love how packable it is. Better luck next time I suppose.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Deluge Rain Jacket:

I bought this jacket several years ago. Because it's very lightweight, waterproof, windproof, and breathable, it stays in my pack along with overtrousers. Most of my hikes are on the moors of England - very changeable wet, windy, cold weather, & this jacket is invaluable. In warmer weather, great over lightweight top; in colder weather, great over layers, the hood fits well over a hat. However, I left the jacket with a friend who lives in Singapore; she needed a jacket for travels in Tibet & Vietnam (& life in Singapore). That jacket is now hers & I bought myself another. My son and a friend of mine have the men's, and they wouldn't travel without this jacket; goes to the tropics & to the Alps, all times of the year.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Deluge Rain Jacket:

I've just returned from a ten-mike hike on Skye in a constantly driving rain. Wind speeds in somewhat sheltered areas are about 20 mph. On the tops of headlands, they are about 40. The Deluge jacket kept me perfectly dry. The pockets are large enough to hold my small camera and keep it dry, too. The hood stays in place in the windiest places. I particularly like the hook and loop closures on the wrists because they can adjusted for whatever I'm wearing underneath and don't irritate like elastic wrists closures can. Thanks, EMS! This jacket is a winner!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Deluge Rain Jacket:

I tried this jacket on at the store in a medium. It seemed big compared to others but it was the only one with a laminate water-proof construction. So I ordered it on-line in a small and it fits great. Bottom-line is that it runs a bit wide but that works well for layering underneath. I have used it on cool, damp days and it works very well. The zipper is a bit tough to get started but then works fine. Also it is a bit noisy compared to a Marmot jacket that my husband has in the same price range. But overall, I am quite pleased.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Deluge Rain Jacket:

I'm a bike commuter. I bike in the rain, snow and the humid summer. I also hike/backpack on the weekends and needed something lightweight. This jacket has been worn in heavy rain a few times already and it kept me perfectly dry. It was also very light weight and easy to pack. I was surprised by it's breath-ability for a rain jacket. On my last backpacking trip, it didn't rain and it was around 65 degrees but we came upon some heavy winds at 70mph. I threw this on over a wool base layer and I found that it wasn't completely windproof but it definitely blocked the wind well enough for the temperature. I think this jacket is an excellent purchase if you're looking for something breathable, lightweight and waterproof. I just hope the waterproofing lasts. My last jacket, an e-vent, lost it's waterproofing fairly quickly. --And the zipper is difficult to get started which will really stink when it gets colder and I'm wearing gloves.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Deluge Rain Jacket:

I have had this jacket for less than 6 months, and wore it biking home in the rain today. It was a pretty heavy rain, and when i got home I was soaked, rain had leaked in all the seams on the sleeves, shoulders and sides near my pack (which had a bike lock and flat kit only). For such a new jacket I am very disappointed. However I liked the fit, color options, and hood size.

The only problem with the jacket is the zipper will unzip by itself from the bottom. Otherwise it's a great jacket and worth the money.

Awesome jacket. Super light and well made. Seam sealed. The only small downside to it is that it is missing a pocket inside. There are only 2 external pockets. They are large though! Love the blue color. It is so bright and cheery.
