Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Deluge Pants:
First outing with these pants proved disappointing. While snowshoeing up a small mountain in NH in 15" of snow one slip and fall on my knee proved tragic for these pants. Knee of the pants totally torn open leaving my knee exposed to elements.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Deluge Pants:
I put these pants to good use on a 12 mile snowshoe trek in the Whites last weekend and they worked well. They were easy to get on/off over my boots and kept me dry and protected from the wind. I wore a pair of micro fleece pants under them and while hiking unzipped the sides about 10 inches, worked great. The reason for four stars is I think the cut on these is just a bit too baggy, but for being a summer rain pant, they performed great. Can't wait to get caught in some cold spring rains to really try them out! lightweight technical fabric has it's limitations as far as durability is concerned, and the sooner you realize that these pants are RAIN pants and not ski/snowboard pants, the longer they will last. Thanks EMS for another great product! Now if I could only find a pair of large Helix pants...

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Deluge Pants:
I used these pants as part of my layering system and raingear for a trek to summit Kilimanjaro. The full leg zip allows for very easy layering and cooling. You can put these pants on without removing your boots since there is a full side leg zipper, and similarly the pants are also easy to remove even while keeping your boots on. I bought the men's pant, since at the time they didn't make a version of this pant for women, and the fit was still fine and comfortable (not much extra baggage in the front). I would highly recommend these pants given that they keep you dry and the full leg zip is essential for efficient hassle-free changes on the mountain that are required when the weather suddenly changes.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Deluge Pants:
These pants have good waterproof breathable qualities, thanks to the Gore-Tex fabric. Construction is pretty good.
Unfortunately, I have to echo the feelings of others who've said that the lower leg is way too baggy. It's a baggy straight-cut fit. So generous that you could put them over gaitered tall winter boots and still having a lot of room to spare. But then, if you're going out on snow and ice, you might want something heavier than this. So I'm not sure what the application is for the cut.
You may also want to be aware that it's not quite a true full length zip - the zipper actually ends just below the waistband. This wasn't an issue for me, but may be of concern or benefit to others.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Deluge Pants:
The Deluge pants are a step above the less expensive EMS pants which I previously purchased about 3 years ago.
I use the pants for walking in all kinds of weather.
I recently wore them in a heavy rain- and my jeans and socks were completely dry.
Pros- a front zipper and an adjustable waist belt.
Cons: they are a little long- but this will not be an issue for people under 5'7". The length of the pants do not interfere with keeping pants legs and socks dry.
This is an excellent product.
