Comments about PETZL Zipka² Headlamp:
It's small unobtrusive, but if you wear it without a hat the string will dig into your head and can get caught in your hair if you don't put it on and take it off just so. I use this light while camping and around the house. I take good care of my equipment, but this light seems to require special care. In the three years I've had it, it's broken three times. Once, while showing my girlfriend how to put it on and take it off (without getting tangled in her hair) the retractable spring compartment pretty much exploded into pieces from the built up tension in the spring, a few parts flying out, one of which hit her right in the face (she was startled but not hurt). It seems the parts have pretty tight tolerances and will crack easily - the battery compartment has broken twice and the spring compartment once, both due to stress cracks. Having said that, Petzl has sent replacement parts at no charge each time. [...]

Comments about PETZL Zipka² Headlamp:
this lamp is useful in that it is tiny and easy to pack. I bought it because of the retractable band. This feature is super handy for travel, but not as secure as a traditional strap if you want to use it for technical activities. Also there is no red light filter, which would have been an extremely useful addition. Overall, it is good and handy for what it is, but I recommend red light filter, full head strap, and higher number of lumens for technical activities like climbing.

Comments about PETZL Zipka² Headlamp:
Just what I was looking for - small enough to fit in your pocket so never need to be without it and bright enough to be useful.
I had no problems with the string getting caught on my hair as some have mentioned - in fact, I found it an extra plus that it all "zipped" up into the light.
A great headlight

Merchant response: Usually the only issues you’ll have with the Petzl Zipka is not losing it (it’s so small and packable). Of course the hair snagging requires some delicate two handed dexterity...but it’s an easily mastered skill after a couple tries. We wouldn’t list the Zipka as ‘questionable’ given our experience with them…but we haven’t blasted our girlfriends in the face with them either. Petzl is a great company who will stand behind their products, but keep in mind we will do the same with the products we sell. Call us anytime for help in Customer Service at 888-463-6367.
