Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS 4 Wheel Jive Daypack:
Had this pack for a few weeks now and tested it in the city and in the woods. Fits my 17" laptop well. Could use a water bottle spot but really if you were going to use this in the woods why not use a bladder? Though water bottles can fit in the bottom pockets on each side of the waist belt. Which brings me to my main gripe: the directions the side zippers go. To me it would make more sense when closing the zippers if they moved towards your front(back of pack) and not toward your back (front of pack). That way when you reach around to grab things, without taking the pack off, you can close the zipper easily by pulling it forward by the attached strap. Instead it is a hassle to close while on, and you have to take the pack off and zip it up. Of course this problem might not be so severe had they moved the pockets onto the hip belt, but that would make the belt larger and unattractive to those who would like to use it for city use.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS 4 Wheel Jive Daypack:
I cycle to and from work every day (year-round) with this pack. It holds my meals, change of clothes, gym gear, and laptop. Alternatively, the large pocket can hold a clarinet case 14"x9"x4" quite easily. The main zipper is very durable, however, after 18 months of packing this thing to it's gills, the front and back pocket zippers broke. The lifetime warranty made it easy for me to get this new one!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS 4 Wheel Jive Daypack:
This pack has been excellent for most of the purposes I use it for. I frequently walk to class in the rain and it does a great job of keeping my things dry (including laptop). Its not waterproof but It certainly resists water well. Lately I have been using it for weekend trips and it easily holds a few tee shirts, maybe a pair of jeans and a pair of shorts, and other basic needs- along with my laptop and a book or two. Straps are taking some getting used to and I find it sits best on my back when the chest strap is clipped. MAJOR drawback is that it doesn't have any designated water bottle pockets. I can fit my nalgene in the outermost pocket on the back bit it is far from convenient to access without taking the pack off. apparently EMS makes a water bladder that you can put in the laptop compartment and use like a camelback but I have yet to try that. I have yet to use this backpack while snowboarding but I can imagine It would hold up fine.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS 4 Wheel Jive Daypack:
My brother bought this pack a few months ago and I liked it so much I picked one up for myself. I've had it for about a month and it has fulfilled all my needs. I use it daily for school and for numerous day hikes and I have no complaints. It is a rugged multipurpose pack that I am looking forward to using this winter while skiing and snowshoeing. The pack has multiple pockets, including a padded sunglass pocket, and it fits my 15" laptop just fine. One feature I particularly like is the fact that there is no netting on the outside of the pack, which on other backpacks often gets caught on branches and stuff while in the woods. To summarize, this is a great pack that I look forward to using for years to come. Thanks EMS, good product.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS 4 Wheel Jive Daypack:
Being a college student, I tend to carry my life in my bag. This bag certainly keeps up with my busy life and then some. There are two very large pockets for anything you'll ever need. (l put a jacket in one and all my books in another!) I took it hiking and the extra buckles and straps kept it centered and comfortable all day. The only issue I found is that when I tried to zipper one of the pockets closed quickly, the zipper got a little caught up on one of the buckles, but that is merely an issue of patience. That being said, I can't wait to really test out the bag when rock climbing!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS 4 Wheel Jive Daypack:
I had an older EMS bag that I think this one replaced. I looked around for a while to find a laptop backpack that could hold everything - laptop, book, gym clothes, lunch, etc. for my daily commute. This one fits the bill with room to spare. Only complaint is there's no external bottle pouch.
