I bought a Thule setup so that I could transport my bike and kayaks with my Jetta.The major cons of the rack are the steep price and it's a huge pain installing and uninstalling it from my car. I need to use a screw driver to pry the fit pack off when removing it. This might just be a problem if you have a Jetta.Once it's on, it feels very safe and sturdy. I was worried that the square bars would be really noisy after reading other reviews, but it's only really noticeable if you're trying to use a sun roof or if you're on the highway.All in all, works great, it's compatible with a lot of 3rd party manufacturers, but an expensive investment. Thule should also make it easier to put on/take off.

I've always had Thule roof racks on my cars. Bought these feet to mount an existing set up on to a new car. Installation was easy to follow with the directions provided. I expect to get many years out of this product.

The foot pack is designed for specific vehicles. You have to get the right one. Following the instructions was not difficult but there is a "but". These have to sit exactly right on the roof of the vehicle or they will not tighten down properly. You can't lock the cover down unless they are tightened just right. Once on they'll never come off unless you want them off.
