Comments about OSPREY Flare Daypack:

I am a high school teacher and use this backpack to carry all the numerous folders/papers I carry from room to room during the day. I use the laptop holder and document pocket for my files so they don't get destroyed. I also commute via subway with this pack. This pack allows me to easily carry heavy loads. I also like the little zippered pocket at the top of the main section (inside) for my wallet. I wish it had a real outside front pocket, not a soft sort-of open pocket. It was hard to carry 2 hard binders with other stuff in this pack, so I switched to all file folders. It can hold all of my files, plus bag of dance/workout clothes, water bottle, umbrella, and scarf at one time.

Comments about OSPREY Flare Daypack:

This backpack is exactly what I was looking for. I am a college students and frequently have to carry my 13in. (and VERY heavy) laptop with me while running from my room to classes and meetings all day, but also wanted something that would work as a day pack that would stay cool and comfortable on all-day hikes, and just general everyday outings. The laptop sleeve fits my computer perfectly, I'm not sure if anything larger than a 13in would fit though. (The sleeve could probably double to hold a bladder but I've never used one.) The main compartment is the perfect size for everything I need but is small enough that I'm not able to overpack as I tend to do. The two small pockets are great for small things like my phone/keys/wallet during the day and the two bottle holders are super snug so nothing ever falls out.

I brought it to a crew race a few weeks ago and it fit a complete change of clothes, lunch and snacks, and everything else I needed with no problems, although we were surprised by a thunder storm and the bag eventually soaked through. It isn't advertised as being waterproof though so I wasn't expecting much. I have worn it in less torrential storms in the past and it stayed much more dry than I expected.

The only other downside is that it doesn't stay upright on its own very well, it either falls forward or slides down onto it's back, particularly when my computer is inside, which can be frustrating.

Beyond that, the fit is great, even fully loaded it feels like I'm carrying next to nothing. When wearing the chest/waist clips it is completely snug and might as well be a part of my body. And the orange color is great! Bright but not neon. Love this bag!
